What's The Worst Thing About Ever Having Been A Jehovah's Witness?
by minimus infor me, it's the waste of precious time and being lied to.. stupid time consuming things to do that are utterly worthless!
and on top of that being told that you were going to live forever on paradise if you followed their decrees..

Our government, controlled by wealthy, powerful lobbyists, love having a third-world nation on their border. It gives them ready access to millions of people willing to work for next to nothing. Jobless rate? They could care less, as long as their coffers continue to fill.
Why would this government help them? There's no profit in it.

I love that Pew report. But you won't see it printed in the WT until their numbers begin to dwindle and they need it to fulfill the prophesy that "the love of the greater number will cool off."

Does Jesus discredit himself?
by MrFreeze inmost people on this forum believe that the global flood never really occurred.
that being said, jesus references the flood of noah's day.
wasn't jesus around during that time period?

I'm with Wobble on this one. The Gospels: written by followers decades after the events supposedly happened, then "copied" by the Catholic Church and in their sole possession for hundreds of years...
There's more than enough room for reasonable doubt in that scenario.

That Holy Spirit sure is a funny fellow!
by Aussie Oz inmusing the other day on times past and things i have learned.
i came to my appointment as a servant and also as a regular pioneer and bethel application.. i guess mr spirit figured that even though i was looking at porn frequently, he would just pop the idea of appointing me into the local elders heads.
as well as the circuit overseer of course.

Good one. My dad was also going to strip clubs when he was reappointed as an elder. He conveniently never turned himself in, and in fact later figured out he must be anointed. That Holy Spirit guy is full of surprises.

NEW RUMOR: WT ALLOWS BIRTHDAYS
by J.R.R.Watchtower ini've just read at a spanish forum for ex-jw that the wt has cooked a new light article series about social celebrations, including birthdays and aniversaries.
according to a member of this forum 'in short' the wt will let witnesses to decide by 'their bible trained conscience' either they celebrate birthdays or not.
is this rumor based in some real facts or it's just bullshit?.

Deos God Have An Organisation?
by TimothyT ini have just read the article 'does god have an organization' from page 13 of the watchtower, 1 june 2011.. yesterday, two elders popped round to leave it with my dad who has not been to the meetings now in some time.
i decided it would be interesting to eavesdrop into their little conversation as a section of it was about me.
they encouraged him (and in extension me) to return to the meetings and to continue our fellowship with the brothers as jw's.

If there is a God, and I think there is, why the hell would he need an organization on earth or anywhere else? The whole idea is nuts.

JW's week after week trying to convert me
by HBJ inthis is my first post.
i have been a protestant christian my entire life, but over the past few months ive been conversing with two jehovahs witnesses on a weekly basis.
as they quickly learned that i was biblically versed, they replaced what i would call a trainee, with someone i believe to be an elder.

It's already been mentioned, but I agree that the best method of debating JWs is asking them pointed questions like:
What if I decide to join your religion and do everything except going to meetings? Can you show me in the Bible where I will die at Armageddon for this?
What if I become a JW and then come to see that the WT is wrong on this or that issue? Can I go with my conscience or do I have to accept the word of a Governing Body I've never met?
What if I decide it isn't important to turn in a field service slip? Where in the Bible does it command me to do this in order to be in good standing with the congregation?
What if I decide to enjoy a cigar ever once in awhile? Can I still be a JW? Where in the Bible does it say that a simple cigar will sentence me to eternal death?
What if I want to grow a beard? Will I be marked? Where in the Bible is it okay to mark someone for having a beard?
What if I decide to use another Bible solely instead of the NWT? Is that permissible, or will it result in marking?
In the Bible, it was viewed as noble for the brothers to question their leadership. Does your religion believe that? What if I question beliefs that aren't taught in the Bible? Will I be kicked out for doing something the Bible encourages?
Can I celebrate birthdays? Where in the Bible are they condemned?
Simple, pointed questions about their belief system will act as Kryptonite to JWs. They will soon run for the hills. Trust me.
