Why would the WTS use quotes from Francis Hitching?

Some Hitching quotes from Creation book
Chapter2
Francis Hitching, an evolutionist and author of the book The Neck of the Giraffe, stated: “For all its acceptance in the scientific world as the great unifying principle of biology, Darwinism, after a century and a quarter, is in a surprising amount of trouble.”
The Neck of the Giraffe, by Francis Hitching, 1982, p. 12
Summarizing some of the unsolved problems confronting evolution, Francis Hitching observed: “In three crucial areas where [the modern evolution theory] can be tested, it has failed: The fossil record reveals a pattern of evolutionary leaps rather than gradual change. Genes are a powerful stabilizing mechanism whose main function is to prevent new forms evolving. Random step-by-step mutations at the molecular level cannot explain the organized and growing complexity of life.”—Italics added.

Chapter 4
Thus Professor William Thorpe of the zoology department of Cambridge University told fellow scientists: “All the facile speculations and discussions published during the last ten to fifteen years explaining the mode of origin of life have been shown to be far too simple-minded and to bear very little weight. The problem in fact seems as far from solution as it ever was.”
The Neck of the Giraffe, by Francis Hitching, 1982, p. 68
Chapter 5
Evolutionist Hitching says of this foremost evolutionary model (accepted model of horse evolution): “Once portrayed as simple and direct, it is now so complicated that accepting one version rather than another is more a matter of faith than rational choice. Eohippus, supposedly the earliest horse, and said by experts to be long extinct and known to us only through fossils, may in fact be alive and well and not a horse at all—a shy, fox-sized animal called a daman that darts about in the African bush.”
The Neck of the Giraffe, by Francis Hitching, 1982, p. 31
Chapter 6
Francis Hitching observes: “The curious thing is that there is a consistency about the fossil gaps: the fossils go missing in all the important places.”
The Neck of the Giraffe, by Francis Hitching, 1982, p. 19
Chapter 7
So the depictions of “ape-men” are, as one evolutionist admitted, “pure fiction in most respects . . . sheer invention.”

Here's the Wikipedia entry for Hitching.

Well, my thoughts have always been that the Creation book was a selection of misquotations and wrenching out of context to plant seeds of doubt about evolution. The Hitching stuff is not one of the sources I've looked at before.
You'd think with the wide availability of fundie Christian material ripe for plunder on the net that the writing committee would have updated the Creation book by now. It's mid '80s.

Legal Experts, please read my question. Thank you!
by asilentone inis it blackmail if i send very incriminating pics to someone without any words?.
-
LeeT
Again, I'm no legal expert but I'd say blackmail would require you to threaten to send if you don't get whatever you're after. Sending them without a prior threat is just s**t stirring.
Do you really want to hurt somebody? You need to be clear in your conscience as well as clear of the law.
Whatever you're thinking of doing, don't do it on the same day as you got the idea, sleep on it and don't do it whilst pissed. Do you want the recipient to know where the photos came from? Remeber doing it by phone or computer is easily traceable.

TIme for a little electronica.
A crazy fun track recorded in 1968 requiring immensely laborious hand building of electronic effects and insanely complex recording techniques for it's time. David Voorhaus is the main genius behind this, ably assisted by Delia Derbyshire of BBC Radiophonic Workshop (Dr Who Theme fame).

Is The Internet The Worst Thing That Could Happen To The Organization?
by minimus inthe witnesses try to demonize the internet.
in your opinion is the internet the biggest problem for the watchtower organization?.
-
LeeT
The internet is not the worst thing that could happen to the org. That would be an armageddon where they find out that they've been batting on the wrong side all along and that hell really is a place of eternal torment.
Here's some rambling thoughts in no particular order.
The internet will only have an affect on recruitment and retention where it is available. Despite increasing penetration in developing/3rd world countries, access is pretty well skewed to the richer countries. As was pointed out earlier it is thse countries that the organisation primarily relies on for it's revenues.
Age too will play a role. My mother is 73 and has been a witness for 30 years. She's never used a computer and never will. As this older generation dies off they will be replaced by a younger generation more disposed to using the internet, and in so doing finding ideas and information in conflict with current teachings.
I read an Awake piece the other day about thr dangers of the internet. They focused exclusively on pornography (almost unavoidable apparently) and marital breakup. Funny how they didn't mention that it's a place full of apostate sites that might wake a witness up from their slumber.
I seem to remember years ago looking for the official jworg site. I seem to remember them having a placeholder site. This gave no information as they do now but basically said 'we've got this domain name. We are the witnesses. If you want further information contact your local Kingdom Hall or national office. By the way, anybody else claiming to be the real JW site are a bunch of apostates'. When did this change and the organisation start to use a site designed to encourage visitors? -
