Damn, where's the edit button? I've not posted on here for a while.
Just to add that Obama seems to have massive charisma. eloquence and style, but little substance and that Palin has moose meat for brains. I generally distrust Republicans anyway.
will it be obama or someone else?.

Well, I'm on the wrong side of the ocean to have a vote and am not as well up on US politics as I'd like to be.
I guess the biggest problem the US will face will be that the dire state of the US economy will be revealed by the time the next election comes round.
I'd like to put forward Governor Chris Christie of New Jersey as a candidate. He seems to be an economic realist and he's not in politics to be popular. I find him refreshingly straightforward.
I realise of course that his presidency is never going to happen of course. Now, I know I'm going to get shot down for suggesting him but I'd be interested to see how people view him.

what a great career and sound he developed over the decades.
he worked with the best, ella fitzgerald, oscar peterson, wrote the avengers theme and so much more.. he and his wife, cleo laine, were really something to see in concert.
i saw them here in the states over 3 decades.
Indeed, with the deaths of George Melly, Humphrey Lyttleton and now John Dankworth a generation of great jazz musicians and characters is passing into fond memory. Such a shame I'll never get to see any of them live now.

Sorry, I'm off topic again.
I'll not post again on this thread.
I've found a couple of 2008 articles indicating that the TRex tissue isn't actually from the TRex.

http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m1200/is_5_174/ai_n28073075/
and an older article discussing Schweitzer's work and creationist misrepresentaation of it.
here's proof that armageddon has already arrived, "invisibly.
" we're living on the paradise earth, fellow apostates.. (when you click on the site, select the "slideshow" option.).

Big cats speak volumes for Jehovah's marvellous design.
Those sharp fangs for stripping seeds off grass.
Those powerful muscles and sharp claws for wrestling wild flowers into submission.
That short digestive system for getting all the goodness out of plant matter.
Surely, the way in which form follows function so perfectly is ample proof of an intelligent designer.

Firstly this is off topic so I'll keep it short.
Re this TRex tissue.
If dinosaurs were as recent as young Earth creationists argue wouldn't we expect to see more dinosaur soft tissue. The fact that we don't (this was the first of anything like this apparent age) indicates to me that dinos are definitely way older than the YE'ers say.
is it such a bad thing to have sex before marriage?.
should you "try before you buy"?.
Sex before marriage definitely a social boon in my books. I recently read a book about the mathematics of sex (no seriously). The chapter on mate selection made a good case for trying out (I think) 10 to 20 partners before setlling down.
Also, I'm in my 40's and never married. I see nothing attractive or virtuous in being a 40 yr old virgin.
i live in a 'difficult territory', though there is a kingdom hall only 15 minutes walk away.. how do jw's deal with door knocking in difficult territories?.
our door can be hard to hear if people come knocking but there is usually somebody home.
i haven't seen a jw at my door in 10 years or so.. now most of you would think that was great i know, but it would be good to meet them in the flesh occasionally, without having to go to the hall or arrange a study.. .
I suppose I was in part questioning whether some areas are favored over others.
I guess large numbers of Muslims who in general take their faith more seriously will be more resistant to the 'Truth' than the average UK nominal Christian who only has a vague faith which isn't too deeply held. I mostly meant difficult in this sense.
There is also the problem of deciding whether houses are unoccupied and language issues.
I'm not sure how active our local KH is (not very in my neck of the woods anyway). The sister I mentioned in my previous post came in from a congregation some distance away. she was working on a specialist skill though (Chinese). She never got back to me with the literature I wanted either.
You must leave in a very difficult surrounding, since you as Christian are the minority.
Well, I'm an atheist, and whilst in a distinct minority I actually quite like it here. If I didn't I'd move out.
Wow, visits every other month in the old days. That's pretty active.
On a brighter and lighter note if the kingdom is to be preached worldwide to give everyone a chance to accept the 'Truth' before armageddon, it will be a while coming if my local cong doesn't pull their fingers out and start hitting the streets.

How do JW's deal with door knocking in difficult territories?

I live in inner city Bradford in the UK. For those who don't know the UK too well here's a little info on our area.
Our Council ward has an estimated mid 2007 population of 3077.
The 2001 census data shows
68.4% Muslim
7.9% Christian
14.2% had either no religous affiliation or chose not to say.
43% were immigrants.
The census was taken during our local university vacation, so our student population isn't represented in these figures. We know though that the more education you get the less likely you are to be duped. More recent years have seen the arrival of large numbers of immigrants from EU accession countries and Africa as well as large numbers of Arabs and Chinese students. Indeed the last sister I saw was outside a Chinese supermarket and she was learning Chinese to Witness to this group.
Here they'd face hostility from people of a strongly held altrnative faith, or incomprehension from people with poor standards of English, or intellectual stuff that would confuse them. I'd imagine doing the rounds in my area would be very frustrating for any JW that tried it.
How do JW's deal with door knocking in difficult territories?
How frequently do other people get the knock?
Do JW's deliberately target the low lying fruit in better areas where they've a better hit rate or at least a better reception, or do they not discriminate?
I seem to remember years ago my Mum saying that houses should get 2 knocks a year. Is this right?
