What is the purpose of life?
by slimboyfat inwhile reading the magazines the other day it occurred to me that jws never really had a very good answer to that question.
because it was aimed at young people and it said something along the lines, "if you believe in god you have a purpose, but if you don't believe in god your life has no purpose or meaning".
i think that is a faulty analysis of the situation.

RIP dad, who introduced me to this fairytail of everlastin life and paradise :(
by Frezia inless than 5 hours ago my great dad fell asleep the last time :( still in a bit of a shock and sad that i will not see him again...i promised myself that once he is here no more, i will somehow make my move out of this organisation who kept us all captive believing in a fantasy of an everlasting life :( i am in a tricky situation, since raised as jw, still in, married to an active jw, and pretty sure that all in my social and family circle will turn their backs on me if i finally say goodbye to a fairytail ;(.

Premise A: The human mind must have a cause.
Premise B: Only infinity can contain infinity.
Premise C: The cause of human mind must be infinity.
Premise D: This cause must possess the intentional ability to manipulate infinity.
Conclusion 2: Human mind was caused by an infinite mind. This one is a logical train wreck. It's so bad I am not even going to try to correct it.

couldn't this have been a great thread with people discussing what they think reality is and then offering what gives life purpose for them personally
Yes it could but SBF failed to deliver on his OP. He ended up waffling something vague about some Scottish poet. Then he spent a couple of pages criticising a book he has never read.

God is both almighty and loving but the human mind is not equipped to understand how this is possible in a world with suffering. - SBF
Then the god of Jesus is a delusion and theism retreats into esoteric bullshit masquerading as sophisticated theology.

Jehovahs Witnesses don't know what the Kingdom of God even is.
by biblexaminer inafter a century of learning and teaching, the dubs are no closer to understanding what jesus taught.. god's kingdom rules ch.
1 par.
9 how will god’s kingdom come?

"The "Kingdom of God" is an ideology. The man does not enter the Kingdom until first the Kingdom enters the man"
These are the sort of things people say after predictions have failed.
Jesus was explicit that he would return in kingdom power to destroy the wicked during the lifetime of his first disciples. He was a false prophet and christians have been covering for him ever since.

Origin of Life
by cofty inin recent years significant progress has been made in solving the question of how life originated on our planet.. how do you think theists will respond when it finally happens?
as a former christian i know my reaction would have been something like "well that just goes to show that it takes intelligent life to make life", but for two reasons that defense doesn't work.. firstly it would prove that life is not an ethereal force that originates with god.
there is no 'ghost in the machine', no elan vital.

However we do know what they think about scientists creating life because they said so.
No they didn't. I have explained that multiple times.

If Russell said one thing and Rutherford said another, could one bring it up in study and say, "After studying the issue I'm more inclined to agree with Russell than Rutherford"? Or is Rutherford's view binding on the congregation? - Coldsteel
Just like in the Mormon mind-controlling cult, the latest bullshit spouted by the latest leader is binding and supersedes all previous bullshit.
