Atheism has yet to be established as truth... - CS
FFS how many times do you need it explained to you?
Atheism isn't a thing. There is zero burden of proof on those who reject the preposterous claims of theism.
the scriptures say all will be resurrected, some to eternal life, others to judgment.
so i wondered what's going to happen to those who wore beards during mortality?
picture if charles taze russell was resurrected and came face to face with joseph rutherford, second president of twt (the whole tamale) and the instigator of the beardless policy.

since leaving watchtower i kind of hit the "reset" button in my mind and reevaluated what i thought i knew, what i believe and i require proof for every idea put before me before i commit to it.
lately i've been fascinated with evolution.
as a jw i never even looked at the subject, dismissing it as "just a theory".

Is there any book or article you would recommend which would provide a good summary of what is known by scientists about abiogenesis? - Saename
"The Vital Question" by Nick Lane is an excellent overview of recent research. Living things extract energy from their environment. The problem with the "organic soup" hypothesis fails to address this. Lane describes in detail how life may have emerged in alkaline vents below the ocean powered by naturally occurring chemical processes.

The smart creationist concerns himself solely with with origin of life itself rather than the origin of species, as this is one of the few dark corners that science hasn't yet shed its light on - RT
You might be surprised to learn just how much progress has been made in abiogenesis. Some really promising work being done by Nick Lane of UCL and others on bioenergetics.
Cofty, would you give me your take on these creationist arguments as put forward by bible nut Jack Chick in one of his tracts
Hi pale.emperor. I will take a look but to be honest he is one of the most ignorant creationists ever. Responding to his scatter-gun approach is like inviting somebody to smash up your house for 10 minutes and then accepting the challenge of fixing it all in the next 10 minutes.
If you spot a specific creationist argument you find challenging let us know and I promise to try to help.

Well done. It's a project that every ex-JW should take on. I have a series of 39 threads that might interest you. Can't link from my phone but can do so later. I will be posting number 40 on the evolution of eyes soon.
RT - Chemo can be horrendous. It can cause a host of side effects as well as damaging the bodies immune system which can lead to potentially fatal infections.
Nobody pretends that chemo isn't extremely toxic. In my case it caused spasms of my aorta (cardiotoxicity) and almost killed me.
On the other hand, if it works it stops or slows down the growth and spread of malignant cells. Along with radiotherapy and surgery it saves lives. In other cases it extends life.
Sadly cancer cannot always be treated effectively. If it has already spread at the time of diagnosis then it is less likely that it can be cured. Patients must be fully involved in discussions with doctors and oncologists to assess the risks and benefits of possible treatments.
I totally respect those who decide that further chemo is not appropriate. On the other hand dismissing chemo and radiotherapy in the way you did above is dangerously foolish.
theresa may the british p.m. has called for an election.. the house of commons has to vote tomorrow and have a two-thirds majority to agree and the main opposition parties want it to happen too so it looks pretty certain to go ahead..

When UK governments have concealed and extracted money from Scotland ...
Can't you see what a daft statement this is?
The oil belonged to the UK of which Scotland was and is a part. There was no appetite for Scottish independence in the 70s. "It's Scotland's Oil" was a failed campaign because Scots didn't want to leave the Union despite the oil money.
My primary school teacher was an SNP ideologue in the 70s. It was very much a minority opinion although there was a brief flirtation with IRA style "Tartan Terrorism" in the 80s. Scotland was a Labour stronghold. Devolution was controversial never mind independence.
We only decided to fancy independence just as oil became worthless.
i thought this forum was for people who were ex jw`s and pro jw`s and the like to debate ,discuss and reasonably talk about our differences ,and sometimes drift off into politics world events and whatever.. however over a period of time i have come across cold steel `s many posts which are nothing more than promoting his mormon religions point of view./beliefs what has that got to do with jehovahs witnesses and the concerns many have with the jw religion.?.
it seems to me he is using this forum to promote his religion and is getting away with it over a long period of time.. how long before other cult religions see this as a springboard for promoting their own religion such as .
sda`s ,christian scientists , christadelphians ,beroean bible students ,etc.etc.. where will it end if he is able to keep doing this ?.
CS has never been a JW, he is a cult apologist.
Personally I think his presence provides an opportunity to expose the cultish nature of Mormonism. Just Google ex_Mormon forums to find thousands of individuals with stories of abuse just like you will find in this forum - with the addition of magic underpants!
I'm all for a diversity of views in a forum. Echo chambers are boring.
londo111 » each congregation has a “talk coordinator”.
talk coordinators will coordinate with other talk coordinators in order to find speakers to give the public talk on sunday.
typically, they come from the general area: the circuit or a nearby circuit.
I think he had a JW girlfriend a long long time ago.
He is here to proselytise an alternative cult. He is active on a forums all over the net doing the same thing.
