Perry - Recovering gave you a link to an excellent article on metamorphosis.
Does is answer your question? Have you even read it?

Cofty you need to provide backup evidence for your claims - research papers and links. - Ruby
No I don't.
Every statement I have made in this series of 40 threads is based on personal research in a wide range of popular science books and articles. It is aimed at helping people with little or no science background to get a glimpse of the evidence for biological evolution.
If anybody is interested in learning more then they can do their own reading and research. I have frequently suggested a reading list.
If anybody wishes to object to any of the evidence I have presented, then the onus is on them to provide evidence that they have researched and to present it in their own words. Copy-paste and videos are not admissible.
So far no such evidence has been forthcoming. Hundreds of insults and personal attacks do not count as evidence. Arguments from personal incredulity are also excluded.

Are you a Christian Who Accepts Evolution?
by cofty inif you identify as a christian but you have accepted that the diversity of life - including humans - resulted from a process of biological evolution could you add your name please?.
just to be clear i am referring to the fact that our physical lineage could literally be traced back all the way to non-human species.. if you like maybe you could comment on why you see not conflict between evolution and your christian faith.. there is a tendency to conflate evolution with atheism.
it would be good to show that this is not the case..

They *have* to believe in a literal garden of Eden, original sin, to make that sacrifice worth anything at all
Christians do not believe that Jesus died to balance up the sins of Adam. They believe Jesus' death was the vicarious punishment for their own sins.

Not at all I think you raise an interesting point.
While evolution can be reconciled with christian faith I agree that abiogenesis raises a more difficult theological challenge. I made a similar point in a thread a few months ago and basically got a lot of flack...

Christians (of the fundamentalist stripe that hold to a literal interpretation of the Bible) believe that all of life's diversity came about after the Noachian Flood four thousand years ago
Which is outrageously anti-scientific. It is literally impossible for evolution to happen that fast and contradicts everything we know about the history of life on earth.
The real question is: How did life originate in the first place?
Why is this "the real question"?
Christians who take a literalist view of scripture are a small minority - they tend to think they are the only true christians. The fact is that millions of christians accept biological evolution unequivocally and see no conflict with their faith. Francis Collins and Kenneth Miller are two good examples of christians who are also mainstream evolutionary biologists.

Broke - my condemnation of Marxism was not a "gut reaction". It was based on research of facts which I certainly don't get from my "government".

Evolution is a Fact #31 - Ten Questions for Creationists
by cofty ini thought this would be a good time to pose some questions based on the series so far.. if creationism is true these should be easy.
answers that don't involve copy-paste would be really interesting to read.. ... .
1. since some proteins can be assembled in more ways than there are atoms in the universe why do the sequences of amino acids and bases vary between species in exactly the way evolution predicts?

An unconformity is not "proof" of a long time period, but instead of an erosional event. Sediments laid down by water, uplifted, and later eroded and overlain by other sediments laid down by are perfectly consistent with the Biblical flood.
That is entirely impossible in the time frame of a biblical flood. It requires millions of years not thousands. The Old Red Sandstone was laid down 350 million years ago.
No prior assumptions are required to conclude that an unconformity is evidence of deep time. The physical evidence speaks for itself.

Do you yourself believe in Christianity as well as Evolution? - cobweb
No I personally have no supernatural beliefs at all.
However millions of christians manage to live with the tension between their faith-based beliefs and an acceptance of the facts of science.
