  my awakening was this month of july, the first week of july.

  i couldn't answer my own questions about the organization or the doctrines, i couldn't understand the prophecies, i couldn't figure quite well what i was feeling.

  They come up with several explanations, but of course they have to keep riding with the Evolution assumption and can’t admit that the data just don’t fit their assumptions because they have no other option with God excluded.   What explanations do "they" come up with and why specifically are those explanations not satisfactory?

  Why is a rejection of evolution by the unnamed author being equated with a "christian" response? Millions of informed chrisitians accept the fact of evolution. What he means is "the fundie response is..."

  The very first paragraph quote-mines a peer-reviewed paper the presents the genetic evidence for telomere - telomere fusion in chromosome 2 to make it sound as if the authors of the paper are saying the exact opposite.

  recently quit being a jw because i realised that beyond armageddon i was going to be ruled by people who cover up child abuse, not telling the congregations by their letter where the money they donated in the box is going towards paying compensation for legal battles which they caused, and also i was bullied by elders and discriminated against for being homosexual, even though i am not practicing it.

  it wasn't until i threatened legal action for a breach of confidence that the elders were deleted.

  so through the media and my own personal experience, i realised that they were no different to corrupt businesses in the world.

  Welcome from Northumberland. It will be tough for a while. Step one is to get over the whole attitude we were taught to have about "worldly people".

  Be open to new friendships and relationships. Don't spend another minute fretting over how unkind or corrupt the organisation or the elders are. They are not worth the time or energy. You will be okay.

  so continuing my review of the current bull shit my family in this cult are subjected to i found this article about professor rajesh kalaria, a jw since 1973 and a scientist who has studied the human brain for 40 years (hmm... so he converted into this cult very early in his career it seems).anyway i also found this jw broadcasting piece about him where he says:.

  thought i'd start a separate discussion on the subject.. those who know me know i'm struggling with faith; i want to believe, some days i do but it becomes difficult.. many believers say there is verifiable proof of jesus' existence outside of the bible.. please post this proof..

  What sort of evidence are you referring to? The design of the universe and of living things ceased being an argument for god 150 years ago.

  If god made the living world why did he wipe out 96% of all living things in the Permian extinction 250 million years ago? Everything you see today evolved from the 4% that survived. This event that lasted more than 40,000 years was just one of five similar events.

  Seeing love or wisdom in the natural world requires a very selective view of natural history.

  It is three overlapping stories told from the perspective of The Royal Air Force, the men on the beach and the boats that rescued them.

  More than 300,000 British soldiers were brought home by an armada of civilian vessels. Churchill had feared that number might be as low as 30,000. They lived to fight another day and, with the help of the USA, defeat the Nazis in 1945.
