  i heard it recommended on an atheist podcast that i listened to.

  This is yet another lame attempt to make a false equivalency between the scientific fact of evolution and the superstitious fantasy of creationism.

  We are post-enlightenment humans armed with the tools of science. Mysteries are things to be solved not treated with reverence.

  To claim that thoughts and the "spark of life" itself are naught more than electro-chemical activities within cells or the brain is insufficient.

  Hothead - You clearly have no interest in sincere conversation or the possibility of learning anything from anybody. It's the arrogance of youth to a degree rarely achieved. I blame the internet where kids can watch a few YouTube videos and quickly check stuff on Wiki and think they then understand something.

  If anybody disagrees and presents reason and fact to the contrary - no problem. 'Support' is only a click away. Why bother actually giving a fuck about gaining knowledge or understanding of complex subjects when you can join a ideological tribe and have endless resources at your fingertips?

  Shallow point scoring is all that matters to you - the search for truth is irrelevant. Until/unless you mature you are doomed to live in a thought bubble all your life.

  i just thought i'd share this story from my past.. back in the 80s i remember the big problem seemed to be about music.

  (today, it's tight pants, i guess) the organization, society, whatever they were calling themselves, were always going on about the music we listened to.

  disco, heavy metal, the whole "backwards masking" thing...couldn't escape hearing or reading about how satan was corrupting us unless we were listening to kingdom melodies or elevator music.. i was assigned to wtf in the late 80s and remember one of the articles stating that "young people know that the rhythm of rock music is the rhythm of sexual intercourse.

  It was part of the Satanic Panic that originated in Evangelical christianity in the '80s. I remember lists going around of bands that were deemed unsuitable. My pioneer partner got rid of a lot of stuff and then bought it all again a few years later.

  So many lies in that post it's not worth responding to apart from one detail.

  The only thing I criticise that I haven't studied is obscurantist French postmodern deconstructionism. All somebody has to do is read some of your 'there are no facts' posts to see what that nonsense does to your mind.

  Apart from that I make it a point to know what I criticise.

  I'm sure Hothead can look after himself without your faux outrage.

  By the way I see from your post yesterday that you are going back to the 'truth' yet again!
