Corruptgirl - a search of WT index for Luke 12:48 might throw up some more interesting references about the need for elders to be held to a higher standard.

Stan - How do you think it could be done if it is a hoax? An actor that looks and sounds exactly right? If anybody was going to those lengths surely the dialogue would be far more damning.

Excellent summary of the principles. Thank you.
Can I add one more?
'Everyone to whom much was given, much will be demanded of him, and the one who was put in charge of much will have more than usual demanded of him.' - Luke 12:48

Ratt - Who do you mean by 'Jehovah God' exactly?
How can it be simple when it is being claimed that Jesus raised himself from the dead?

Half Banana - I think you have missed my point. I agree that there is absolutely no evidence that god exists. It is a topic we regularly debate.
Sometimes people post threads with the intention of debating whether or not Watchtower doctrine is consistent with the bible that they profess to follow. That is a legitimate thing to do. Replying that god isn't real is true but not helpful.
Snakeface - I think debate about religious topics on a religious discussion forum is entirely valid. I will continue to discredit theism. It doesn't mean I need everybody to agree with me it just means that I think big questions are worth debating. Some people avoid those types of threads. That is fine too.
Those of you who feel you have to post to discredit other's beliefs actually still have the cult mindset
Actually it is those who refuse to engage in debate and hold their most cherished beliefs up to scrutiny that are more of a cause for concern. Telling ex-JWs that they still have a cult mindset is a cheap shot.

I think it is not unreasonable for xtians to discuss a theological topic based on the presumption that God exists.
If I started a thread on a scientific debate within the broader field of evolution it would be tedious to have to put up with superstitious people interjecting with creationism.
I agree with Tenacious.

Who is The Lord?
by JW Answers inthe jehovah's witnesses believe that only the father is lord god, however by searching the scriptures we can identify that there are more than one person in the godhead, and the lord jesus as well as the holy spirit are lord.. for those who are interested in learning, feel free to watch this new video..

Well it has only taken 7 pages, countless requests and endless insults and personal attacks but at last you have made an attempt at answering my question. Thank you.
I have edited down the key paragraph to make it easier to identify the three parts of the trinity. If you think my editing has misrepresented your views in any way please let me know.
God, the Father is an awesome being ... His words are alive. His word is Jesus ... Jesus has all of the authority of God the Father. He is like the hand of God ... He loves his word with so much love that his LOVE is alive ... To me, his love is the Holy spirit. Not an active force, but true to the scriptures, showing all the attributes of a coherent being. - TPWSYF
I am really struggling to see how your description gets us even close to the christian trinity but I'm going to have another read at it over the weekend and then get back to you with a thoughtful reply.

TPWSYF - You have lied repeatedly that you have already answered my challenge. I invited you to simply provide a link to the post where you did so. I promised that if you did that then I would apologise. I predicted you would refuse to backup your lies with a link.
I was correct.
So my challenge still stands. Please explain the trinity simply in your own words, without self-contradiction or resorting to esoteric theological terms.

If you could stop frothing at the mouth for a minute perhaps you could link to the exact place where my challenge has been answered by you or anyone else.
I am willing to apologise if you can do that. I'm equally certain you can't.
You seem to be suggesting that the trinity is not in the bible but the Catholic church have a special line to God which trumps scripture. Shall we chat about the nest of pedophiles that is otherwise known as the Roman Catholic clergy sometime?
The belief that God is greater than all other things changes nothing. You still don't get to talk in riddles and pretend you are being profound.
My challenge still stands. Explain the trinity simply in your own words without self-contradiction or resorting to esoteric theological terms.

Yup, Yet, you keep trying to get people to answer your stupid question - TTWSYF
My challenge is totally reasonable. Describe the trinity simply in your own words. Every time I have asked this over the years christians either ignore it to get very angry and abusive. It's almost as if they are trying to cover their embarrassment.
Imagine if I was challenged to describe evolution simply in my own words without resorting to esoteric scientific language and I behaved like you do. You would be forgiven for concluding it was all bullshit.
JW answers posted about 'Who is Lord' and you attacked him and he was nothing but respectful to you.
That is factually incorrect — also known as a lie. Anybody can go back and read the conversation. You will not find one single ad hominem from me. But even if I had attacked JWA how would that help your case?
EXPLICITLY states that Jesus and the Holy Ghost are God. Period.
The bible nowhere states the trinity. Why not?
Christians believe that the trinity is a crucial part of their faith and yet Jesus, the one who came to make god known, never bothered to mention it.
There are texts that suggest the deity of Jesus. If you read the NT chronologically you can follow the evolution of Christology which doesn't reach full deity until much later. The bible nowhere states that the holy spirit is identical to almighty god. Texts that hint at the personhood of the HS are open to other interpretation.
As for your illustration it does nothing to add to the conversation. The future does not exist. It isn't a 'thing'. A good illustration can enhance a clear explanation. A bad illustration with no explanation just makes things worse.
You can't acknowledge that you're wrong ever. That's called being a sociopath.
That isn't true. I worked out that the religion I had been raised in was false so I admitted I was wrong and I left at great personal cost. I became an evangelical christian for almost a decade but I never stopped learning and testing my beliefs. I eventually worked out that it was not reasonable to believe in the existence of a loving god. I changed my mind and I left. We only grow if we are open to listening and learning. I change my mind about all sorts of things all the time.
Dismissing people who decline to submit to your vacuous dogma as 'sociopaths' does not make a compelling argument.
My challenge remains. Please describe the trinity simply in your own words, without self-contradiction and without resorting to esoteric theological terms.
