  Good effort.

  They could have done with a shield. If that tazer had failed it would have been potentially life threatening. I think there is a time when armed police just have to take somebody out. That was arguably such an incident.

  Peace and security

  scrolling through the news this morning and i couldn’t help to think we are light years from any leaders crying out peace and security.

  jws are going to have to wait another decade or two and see how things develop before they get excited about armageddon coming in their lifetime.

  i've been visiting my mother during this corona ordeal.

  a year ago i had a dream i was much older and talking to somebody about how my mom died this year but it was avoidable.

  Dawkin's book 'Unweaving the rainbow' is a very useful investigation of these sort of issues.

  When you really start digging into events like this they invariably become less significant the more facts you establish. For example how wide are you willing to spread the net of probability? If your dream happened a day before a parent dies, two days, two weeks, a month? Does the parent have to die to fulfil the premonition or just have a worrying incident? How worrying exactly?

  How many tens of thousands will dream about the demise of their elderly parents this evening? What percentage will come true - or slightly true if we include strokes, heart attacks and accidents that don't result in immediate death?

  What about the text? During the crisis and the call for an ambulance did you contact any other family members? Is it possible one of them contacted your dad but for reasons of family politics didn't want to say so?

  However odd things may seem even amazing coincidences are infinitely then time going in reverse and consciousness coming back from the future.

  Susan Blackmore spent half her career trying to find a scientific basis for supernatural claims. She eventually gave up when every single incident turned out to be be misremembered, exaggerated or just plain false.

  it’s what we do, there is no way to change it, sinning is a daily part of life.

  there are major sins, but most of us commit minor ones everyday in words, thoughts or deeds.

  My Mom died last week.

  last wednesday my elder brother called me to let me know mom had died.

  she was 97 years old and was in a nursing home for the last 7 years.

  her mind had left her many years ago to the point she didn't recognize any of us.

  I think all adults have occasional dreams about the demise of their parents.

  In this case your dream was wrong - thankfully.

  With billions of interactions between billions of people every day the most amazing miracle would be if there were not astonishing coincidences.
