  Eh? There is almost certainly a strong genetic component and factors related to embryonic development but its hardly a "disorder"

  To be a JW you have to believe that the world is under the secret control of an invisible wicked spirit whose principle aim is to disrupt the lives of the group you belong to. Every bad thing that happens is attributed to this secret enemy known only to those “in the know”.
  
  You accept that you have inside information hidden form the rest of the world about the biggest event in history that any day will see the obliteration of more than 99% of earths population, you also know exactly who will survive this event – you and your fellow conspirators.
  
  You must be convinced that all religious beliefs are misguided apart from the ever-changing views of the one tiny organisation, which you happened to discover.
  
  One day soon the collective member states of the United Nations, apparently bored with dealing with real issues, will focus their combined might against your little group.
  
  You must accept that the creator of the universe communicates his will via a tiny group of 9 or 10 old men, whose names you hardly know, who meet in secret sessions in an office in NY.
  
  Is there any conspiracy theory more extreme than this, and this is only the tip of a huge incongruous iceberg, as we all know.

  Is it years of borg training that makes people vulnerable to this kind of thinking, or does the borg attract people with this sort of view?

  millions affected.. how many prayed in vain to stop the quaking, keep a loved one from dying, or for saftey?

  BTS has probably said the most honest thing a believer can say at times like this.

  230,000 is probably more accurate

  God cannot intervene, because the laws of the universe don't allow God to do so

  This sounds a lot like a contradiction. Is god in submission to natural laws? I agree the evidence does not support the existence of a personal god but what alternative are you proposing?

  Why Christains make no sense to me, an example from Haiti...

  i have some in laws who recently went to haiti to do "missionary" work at one of the churches there.

  this "missionary" work basically consisted of singing and dancing and entertaining the church goers.

  my relatives stayed at some houses owned by the church on the church property.

  May I cordially welcome you Ernie Sr. Now what are you talking about?

  Either the Bible is the Word of God, or we have to come up with our own ideas. We have to conclude that Jesus never even existed! That there is no such thing as truth. And that no one can know what is truth.

  Surely you can see that this is a false dichotomy? How does it follow that if the bible is not the word of god there is no such thing as truth? Please explain.

  As Happyguy says most of us here know the bible very well; in what way has the bible contributed something to the sum total of truth in the world.
