RT - Chemo can be horrendous. It can cause a host of side effects as well as damaging the bodies immune system which can lead to potentially fatal infections.

Nobody pretends that chemo isn't extremely toxic. In my case it caused spasms of my aorta (cardiotoxicity) and almost killed me.

On the other hand, if it works it stops or slows down the growth and spread of malignant cells. Along with radiotherapy and surgery it saves lives. In other cases it extends life.

Sadly cancer cannot always be treated effectively. If it has already spread at the time of diagnosis then it is less likely that it can be cured. Patients must be fully involved in discussions with doctors and oncologists to assess the risks and benefits of possible treatments.

I totally respect those who decide that further chemo is not appropriate. On the other hand dismissing chemo and radiotherapy in the way you did above is dangerously foolish.

The oil belonged to the UK of which Scotland was and is a part. There was no appetite for Scottish independence in the 70s. "It's Scotland's Oil" was a failed campaign because Scots didn't want to leave the Union despite the oil money.

My primary school teacher was an SNP ideologue in the 70s. It was very much a minority opinion although there was a brief flirtation with IRA style "Tartan Terrorism" in the 80s. Scotland was a Labour stronghold. Devolution was controversial never mind independence.

We only decided to fancy independence just as oil became worthless.

i thought this forum was for people who were ex jw`s and pro jw`s and the like to debate ,discuss and reasonably talk about our differences ,and sometimes drift off into politics world events and whatever.. however over a period of time i have come across cold steel `s many posts which are nothing more than promoting his mormon religions point of view./beliefs what has that got to do with jehovahs witnesses and the concerns many have with the jw religion.?.

it seems to me he is using this forum to promote his religion and is getting away with it over a long period of time.. how long before other cult religions see this as a springboard for promoting their own religion such as .

sda`s ,christian scientists , christadelphians ,beroean bible students ,etc.etc.. where will it end if he is able to keep doing this ?.

Personally I think his presence provides an opportunity to expose the cultish nature of Mormonism. Just Google ex_Mormon forums to find thousands of individuals with stories of abuse just like you will find in this forum - with the addition of magic underpants!

It's not about receiving handouts from elsewhere. Scotland is a part of the UK, that's the whole point. The economy of different parts of the UK has gone up and down throughout history. The problem is yours because you see yourself as a separate nation.

As an independent nation under the auspices of the EU life in Scotland would be horrendous. It would make Greece look prosperous.

I voted to leave the EU. I am still convinced it was the correct decision. Why on earth do you imagine I should feel any responsibility for the mess that Theresa May has created since then?

There were many Labour supporters who also voted for Brexit.

Ironic that Ruth Davidson was responsible for saving Theresa May with a very successful campaign in Scotland, Ruth is about to get married to her gay partner and Theresa May has made a deal with an anti-gay political party founded by a Protestant bigot.

SNP lost 21 seats. The people of Scotland have given them a clear message that they are fed up with Sturgeon's divisive ideology. Indy2 isn't going to happen any time soon.

35 seats is a clear win but the direction of travel is rapid decline. SNP have had their day. Small-minded nationalism has lost it's appeal.

In the UK it costs the NHS huge sums of money to administer radiotherapy and chemo. For us there is no financial motive. It works. It's not the magic bullet but it's the best we have.

I would be dead by now if it was not for conventional cancer treatment.

The future probably lies in therapies based on the specific genetic causes of cancer. Cancer isn't one disease. There no "cure for cancer". There are many related diseases that all involve the uncontrolled replication of cells.
