John Lennon's Imagine. Will it ever happen? I am sure it will, but not in the near future,in the distance future our children's children
I really doubt it will. I'm not even sure it would be desirable. It's a prayer for tedious homogeneity.
recently bret weinstein and richard dawkins sat down for a debate.in the following video, weinstein talks about what can be done to address an error in dawkins'selfish gene theory in terms of the new atheism's error and regarding religion as a mind virus.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm8fksjljtm&t=1096s_____and a good follow up:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qr5yn2g4h54&t=904s.

Thank you for posting this Terry. I will watch the videos later.
My instincts are with Weinstein on this. It's a topic that Jonathan Haidt addresses in his book The Righteous Mind — Why Good People are Divided by Religion and Politics. Religion has been a powerful force for in-group cohesion. How we are ever going to replace it is a mystery.
Dawkins is mostly brilliant on Evolution and mostly facile on everything else.
i say 'hilarious' because it shows the guardian's ridiculous bias.. this article is dripping with noble savage hippy-ness.. nearly all contact with outsiders have been violent.. here's an excerpt about one of the two 1991 visits that were non-violent: “they are a peace-loving people,” tn pandit, an anthropologist who conducted one of the first successful meetings with the tribe in 1991, told an indian news outlet this week.. and here's what wikipedia has to say about it: 'on later visits, pandit's boats were confronted by sentinelese who turned their backs, which pandit took as a sign their visit was not welcome; but they were able to leave gifts, which islanders came to take.
he observed that the men carried bows and arrows, but the women did not.
on one visit in 1991 the islanders took coconuts from the hands of pandit's party, but would not allow them to enter the island'.
Steven Pinker deals with the myth of the Noble Savage in his excellent book The Blank Slate — The Modern Denial of Human Nature.

Dianne Abbott is probably the dumbest person ever to sit in the House of Commons.
today while out running errands, i was flipping through the radio trying to find something to listen to.
i ended up on some christian type of station, and the guy was talking about the ark, and the flood during noah's time.
personally i no longer believe this fable, because the facts just don't line up.
Human ignorance , an indefensible fact
But we are all ignorant of many things.
Humans evolved a propensity to assign agency to random events. Communities tell stories about their origins. These myths deal with origins and trials endured by their forefathers. The point of these myths is not historical accuracy. They bond people together.
It is ridiculous when post-enlightenment people still insist that these things really happened.

Love it!
in watching the latest video in the series "was it designed?
" at tv-dot-jw-dot-org, i got to wondering why is it that watchtower hardly references scientist that are creationist.
i know its only a minority from that group, but there are enough out there for them to reference from.
Every time I put it to a JW on a cart that they are creationists they take offence. You have to explain the difference to them between old-earth and young-earth varieties of stupid.

Actually I take that back. From the video it looks like the police are hitting them pretty hard. What a great job they have!

......and what if in one these bang ups someone dies as a result - Fink
It's not a 'bang up'. These are very highly trained police drivers who will knock the bikes into a slide, not a head-on collision.
If somebody dies as a result that will be regrettable but the blame will rest with them.
The alternative is gangs of young men terrorising communities with impunity.
