What would go in a Scottish grab-bag? Must be a good topic for Tam and Stuart on 'Off The Ball' on Saturday.
a police campaign to get the public to prepare a "grab-and-go" bag in case of emergencies has been both criticised and mocked by social media users.. a police scotland tweet urged people to pack essentials such as a first aid kit, radio, torch, and food and water.. its recommendations were part of an annual preparedness month, which is being promoted by local authorities and emergency services across the uk.. however, the police force has been accused of scaremongering.. the tweet read: "september is preparedness month.
emergencies can happen at any time and it's recommended to have a #grabbag ready containing essential items including medication, copies of important documents, food/water, torch, radio and other personal items.".

i was wondering how many of us have switched to a vegetarian or vegan diet and why.
i'm not doing it but have friends who do.
lovely people and seem very healthy.
wtc has become adept at using tragedy as a means of raising cash.
for example, when puerto rico was devastated by a hurricane, wtc directed a large number of congregations to donate $1500 each in supplies that would be used for relief purposes.
it is not known how many congregations took part in this effort but the feedback suggests it was in the hundreds.
have you ever been watching a show and suddenly, there's a reference to jehovah's witnesses?
i was watching an english mystery show from a while back and the main character hetty, was giving a list of religions that could have drawn off a young girl.
one of the "fringe" groups was tada - jehovah's witnesses.. there is plenty of other more well known clips like snl coneheads being approached by fake jw's.
evolution is how we got here.. demonstrate that you believe that all species evolved from a single cell over/within 3.5 billion years by tapping "like" below.. demonstrate that you believe in special creation by tapping "unlike" below..
your insistence that it is your way or the highway is not compatible with the scientific method - Earnest
'My way' is the very basic claim that all species descended from other species via evolution. That much will still be an unassailable fact in 10,000 years time. The earth will still not be flat and humans will still be the descendents of common ancestors of primates.
Everything else is detail.
Go back and look at the poll question in the OP. Anybody who rejects this basic fact in favour of special creation is just plain wrong. In the vast majority of cases they are being misled by bad theology.

That is such an esoteric detail Earnest.
Go all the way back billions of years to the very beginning of life and what did the roots of the tree look like?
So what?
Humans still descended from primate ancestors and from reptiles, amphibians and fish before that.
So many attempts to muddy the waters in this thread. Not sure if it is deliberate or because people really don't understand the significance of their quote-mining.

The significance of epigenetics is often massively overstated in popular science. I have a book here by Nessa Carey called The Epigenetic Revolution. It's interesting but I suspect it is also much exaggerated. The ridiculous headline and strapline in the Guardian is a classic example of bad science journalism.
Environment may have a passing effect on the expression of genes but the basic code is still the same. The physical folding of the DNA molecule actually affects the translation of genes.
Regardless of the long-term conclusion on the significance of epigenetics it has no bearing on the fundamental fact of common ancestry.
I think this is the third or fourth time I have made the same point. All extant species - and the 99.9% that have gone extinct - evolved from a common ancestor. That will still be true in 10,000 years time whatever details of the process have to be reconsidered.
