I noticed you proposed an argument from personal credulity.
This is the most common objection used by creationists. It takes the form - 'Here is a feature about the natural world that is really complex. I haven't read anything about evolution but I can't imagine how this could come about by naturalistic processes. Therefore god.'
It is an obvious fallacy.

I noticed that - just like the other many, many times I have asked creationists that question - you didn't answer it. So far I have a 100% record on that!
Evolution is a fact but there is also much still to be discovered. Every species that has ever lived, including the 99.9% of species that went extinct before humans appeared, descended from a common ancestor over millions of years by a process of evolution. This is as certain as anything that is known to be true. People who doubt this fact are invariably ignorant of the evidence. I used to be in that position too. Would you be open to discussing it or is your mind closed for now?

km 9/07 p. 3 question box - does “the faithful and discreet slave” endorse independent groups of witnesses who meet together to engage in scriptural research...?.
and yet, in various parts of the world, a few associates of our organization have formed groups to do independent research on bible-related subjects... some have pursued an independent group study...so as to analyze the accuracy* of the new world translation... for those who wish to do extra bible study and research, we recommend that they explore insight on the scriptures, “all scripture is inspired of god and beneficial,” and our other publications...” .

If somebody had got all their information about the Watchtower from anti-WT sources would it be intellectually honest of them to reach a conclusion about the organisation?

by MuchCloserLook inso, if you expect to find 'saints' with halos, you will never find real christians.. after over 30 years of being a jw, there are many things about the org that disturb me- yet no one else even acknowledges the only true god, as jesus referred to him.. not a 'they' or 'them' ('trinity')- but him!and he has always had the name jehovah (yehovah in hebrew)- even though the koine greek had no version of it when the nt was written.. so among the many things real christians have to endure- is often each other!

It seems that your confidence in the leadership of the organisation has taken a hit but your have not seriously questioned your faith in god or in the bible.
I was in a similar position a number of years ago.
What are the biggest reasons that make you convinced about the fundamentals and is there any potential information that could make you question them?

latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.

The key thing for the UK is to make sure that the NHS can cope. So far nobody has been refused a ventilator who needed one and there is spare capacity.
Pending an effective drug or vaccine it's about managing the risk

Anon it's a mistake to confuse the issue with reference to things that are logically impossible.
Stick to reality.
God created a world perfectly designed to maximize the suffering of conscious creatures. He subsequently has done nothing to alleviate that situation.
That doesn't make a god impossible but it does destroy the god of Christianity.

Joan do you ever read a single word your interlocutor says or do you just keep typing regardless?
How many times do I have to tell you that after I left the Watchtower I became a born-again christian for a decade. I was a 'real' christian. Born-again, forgiven, saved, justified by faith, adopted son of god. I lived and breathed the gospel every day. I preached justification by faith alone. Sola Scriptura. My gospel was simple - 'By his stripes you are healed'. It was diametrically opposed to my former beliefs as a JW.
My ultimate loss of faith and adoption of reason was NOTHING to do with my previous life as a JW and EVERYTHING to do with the irrational nature of christian faith. Stop spouting banal platitudes and try engaging in an actual conversation.
