Wow Anna M that was some smorgasbord of random historical links.

ever since i came out of the witnesses, i've become very political.. i've heard lots of arguments back and forth for many things.. in the u.s. there is the argument that it is "racist" to want to deny entry to muslims.
while there is freedom of religion, there is also the very valid concern of maintaining democracy and a justice system that is based on modern values.we as exjw's constantly quote the pew center for statistics on jw's such as: they are last place in the us for members of a religion that go to university, and second-last for poverty levels of members of a religion.
we accept those statistics and mention them as proof of how damaging the jw's are.now, let's use the same center for some very scary statistics on islam:http://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2016/07/22/muslims-and-islam-key-findings-in-the-u-s-and-around-the-world/.

I think every man should have the right to worship his own religion
So do I. Why do majority Muslim states kill their apostates?
Why does the quran teach that non-Muslims will burn in hell?
But whoever opposes the Messenger, after guidance has been made clear to him, and follows a way other than that of the believers, We shall leave him on [the path] he has taken, and We shall cause him to burn in Hell—what an evil journey’s end! (4:115)

this topic is to focus on status updates & advice (no opinion or politics please).. status.
latest status is that it's serious, probably isn't going to be contained and most large companies are making contingency plans, cancelling large events etc... which i don't think would happen if it was just people being alarmist.
the incubation period means it may have already spread further and infected many more people than are currently known, so expect jumps in the numbers over the coming days and weeks.. tracking.
Witness - The UK has today made a change to the way it records deaths outside of hospital. Previously it depended on having a positive test result. Now they are including cases that had covid symptoms.
As a result the running total may have increased today but the daily death total trend continues to decrease.

Please provide a link.
The figure of 765 INCLUDES all deaths whether in hospitals, care homes or in the community.

Then it must be a typo.

U.K today has 4,000 new cases and 4,000 new deaths!
No it's 765 new deaths. For the first time this includes deaths in care homes. Today's number might be inflated as it includes death registrations from more than 24 hours.

Hello theone welcome to the forum.
It is true that you can cherry-pick peaceful texts from the Quran. You can also find calls for violence, oppression and intolerance.
The same is true of the bible.
On the whole the Quran becomes less appealing in the later texts when Mo and his cronies fled to Medina. These texts supercede the earlier conciliatory ones.
Christianity focuses on the New Testament and most xtians have found a way to ignore the Bible's violent tendencies.
Surveys show that a worrying percentage of Muslims still favour moral precepts that western liberal societies find abhorrent.
Of course many Muslims have reconciled their beliefs with liberal ethics. I fully support the rights of Muslims to practice their religion but we must be intolerant of intolerance. The victims of bad Islamic traditions are mostly Muslims - especially women and Muslim reformers.
am sure you will not continue this. Or heaven will not be your place
Nobody cares.
just saw this on the news tonight.
england has come up with a covid vaccine at the oxford university.
india wants to start using it in a couple of months.
I think they are adapting a vaccine that was originally developed for Ebola.
It looks promising but too soon to know. If it works it will be the fastest vaccine in history by a long way.
i`ll list a few things and welcome any input, comments you may have .. 1.when adam & eve "sinned" disobeyed him, surely god could have handled it better than to condemn all future generations to disease and death ?.
2.his handling of satan who supposedly seduced eve to disobey god could also have been done a lot differently with a finality to it.. 3.i find little if anything in his dealings with the patriarchs that suggests a loving god protecting them.?.
4.taking on the nation of israel and leading them as his chosen people does not inspire confidence or trust as a god of love.. 5.throughout the hebrew scriptures / old testament his chosen people were constantly at war with other nations which of course would have meant many deaths of the israelite`s during these battles .and the grief that comes with family members in those times.
truth is ONLY evil ones are killed.
What about all the infants God told Joshua to annihilate?
Are babies evil?
