Those who keep posting about the "rich corporations" are just silly and are throwing up red herrings in this debate.
This is NOT about corporate employees. It is about government and state employees who insist that the rest of us should fund their benefits. I work for a non-profit healthcare organization and my retirement is funded by ME through payroll deductions. Why can't we expect the same of the government and state employees? Why do they need us to fund their retirement?
I hope Walker sticks to his guns. This is a brilliant move on his part. As I see it this is a FREE presidential campaign without any tiring tours, crazy debates, smear campaign ads. It is time that someone in power grew a spine before the US is totally bankrupted. Sadly I voted for Obama but his campaign of hope has been more of the same government spending and empty promises. America the time for austerity is here. Do it the smart way or do it the hard way. There are no alternatives.
Robdar and hubby, typically one could inflate your way out of this mess and minimize the debt in relation to GDP. That is not an option without further killing the housing market. What workable suggestions do you have for SOLVING the US debt problem other than austerity?
The problem with socialism is that at some point in time you run out of other people's money to spend.
