  this is the first time i have posted here in a long time.

  let me me say hi to everybody the new comers and the people here i could never forget ;) (james, larc, ect...).

  it seems i have been a member here for nearly 2 years now and alot has changed in this short space of time.. so has anything major happened in the jw world?

  ive been looking at an interesting site by a woman who receives transmissions from aliens called the zeta.

  apparently the world as we know it will end may 15th when planet nibiru / marduk passes so close to our earth that an apocalypse will occur.

  it last passed by when the noachian flood occurred.

  - it will not afect your faith negatively.
  - [insert what you wish here].

  b) Need a better explaination
  - feel unconfortable with it at first glance if I dont get a darn good explaniation for this it will seriously affect my faith.

  d) Undecided
  - Mabe the bible has a few problems but i'm not going to give up on it that easy.

  Any comments on this would also be nice especially after a) and c).

  i used to post frequently here on jw.com, that was about 4 - 5 months ago i think, it was around the time when dateline had just aired for the first time, i rember that being the main hype.

  i left because posting on this board was eating up alot of my time.

  the topic of religion was so interesting that it became addictive and i would read posts on this board for hours.

  It seems the second question is harder to anwser than I thought. Mabe if I refresh everyones memories it will produce a responce.
  Here goes: First What do I mean by alternative military service? Simply put: In times of war when the government of any particular nation requires the complusary service of an individual within the military and that individual for some reason or the other ( religious in this case ) states a valid reason as to why they cannot fight, the military may allow them to serve in a position which does not invlove actual combat. The alternative to this is usually imprisonment!
  So this means that as a result of the individuals devotion to their religious doctrine many people have went to jail rather than serve in the army as a medic for example. This seems very noble ( and it may be ) but only due to the fact that the doctrine was altered many faithfull witnesses have spent days, months and even years in jail which could have been avoided by serving in a non combatant role in the military. I must also mention too that this was "Jehovhas unering word" (tm).
  It was in 1995 that the Watchtower altertered its stance on alternative military service from being flat out against it ( grounds for disfelloshipment ) to leaving it up to the person as a "matter of individual conscience" (r).

  I should mention here that I donot have direct quotations from WTBS literature with me right now so that you can directly verify this yourself. But it has been mentioned several times on this site and I am shure some one can help me out here. I am not asking anyone to believe me I am just stating that I donot have the references at hand.

  Moving on...This was while they were still associated with the UN DPI. Right now I am trying to find any document or other hard evidence to support the claim that they altered the long time doctrine due to United Nations policy. So far I have not found any such evidence. But if such evidence were to exist I suspect it would be found under the heading of human rights. I would like to know if ANY poster has information that may be of intrest to me pertaining to this topic. Also I am not fully aware of the entire scope of the United Nations Scandal and any infrequently discussed details on the matter would be of intrest to me. For example this very same topic of alternative military service is infrequently discussed.

  I know of one poster that claimed to have been directly affected by this doctrine in the past. I'm shure they are others.

I left because posting on this board was eating up alot of my time. The topic of religion was so interesting that it became addictive and I would read posts on this board for hours. I can bearly rember how I managed I escape jw.com's grasp. I am shure that some of you know what I mean. Now I would like to get some information without actually having to post here on a continuing basis. I hope you understand my position, i.e not wanting to get sucked back in to writing 3 hour posts and all. So I decided to break my rule and come back here.

  Well here goes...

  1) Who is the president of WTBS? Ted or Milton
  ? If there was a change what happened?

  2) I think I read on the board a while back that the WTBS under pressure from the United Nations "changed its policy" on alternative military service. I have been researching this topic and I have found practcally no information to prove this statement as a "rock solid" fact. I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction. So far I have narrowed it down to the issue of human rights but I can find nothing specific. Posters hawkaw for example seem to have expertise on this issue. ANY other matter of significance pertaining to the United Nations scandal which it is possible that a poster may have over looked may also be of interest to me.

  I have other questions but I dont want to take up your time.
