For the young man that toasted the shunned at the memorial I say good on him. A little self empowerment after coming out of a cult is good for you and nobody was hurt except maybe some feelings on the Jehovah's Witnesses' part. The idea that a man drinking wine and toasting the shunned at the memorial could make a Jehovah's Witness more entrenched is laughable in my opinion. On the contrary I believe they will think about it for many memorials to come and that's a good thing. It's good for them to see someone standing up against the governing body.

It reminds me a poster from years back by the name of little toe who was an elder who disassociated himself during the Sunday public talk which he was actually giving at the time. Annointed 144k only male?

i was told there was new light by a former jw.

i wanted to verify if it was true.

the new light claims the annointed class/144k is always male.

Thanks to all who gave me clarification on this. Again, I was highly skeptical that there was new light on the 144k but was interested since my mother claims to be annointed and shuns us, her children.

I was told this new light was relayed at a meeting about a week and a half ago. I was skeptical....but hopeful. It might well be false.

I was told there was new light by a former JW. I wanted to verify if it was true. The new light claims the annointed class/144k is always male. Therefore, female JWs who claim to be of the 144k are mistaken or lying. I'm interested in this because my mother claims to be annointed.

Has anyone heard of this or can they verify this rumor?

what do you do when you're being blindsided from seemingly every direction and you're drowning in stress?

what do you personally do to counteract it?.

When I first exited the WT, getting a good night's sleep was impossible for a long time. I'd go to bed around 10:00, fall asleep around 12:30, and wake up at 3:30 unable to fall back asleep. The days stretched into weeks, into months, and into years.

I tried martini's before bed, over the counter sleeping pills, finally prescription sleeping pills. They weren't any good as you'd feel like a drowsy zombie the rest of the day. Finally I began reading about hypnosis, meditation. Since it was my own thoughts that were keeping me in a high-stress mindset, I knew I had to get control of them. A couple of cd's with guided hypnosis, guided meditation, worked better than anything to finally stop the cycle of insomnia.

Ash, you're right about concentrating on the good things in your life.
At that time, that was my career, and I made myself into a really good court reporter, one of the best at the firm. It really paid off.

Mum, I really like Wayne Dyer. Saw his seminar on Public Television at least twice. Going to the gym helps burn the stress off for me too.

Ranchette, you like music to relax? Ha! You should see my collection. I must have over 400 cd's by now! I should quit, but I'm addicted to music, all kinds. Especially jazz and new age, and Enya.

What do you do when you're being blindsided from seemingly every direction and you're drowning in stress? What do you personally do to counteract it?

Reading Joelbear's latest post ("Joelbear Needs to Calm Down")reminded me of what it was like when first exiting the Watchtower. Having multiple servings of stress on your plate (family, religious, mental health, physical health job) all at the same time can cause that feeling of being overwhelmed. What do you do when stress is all you seemingly feel?

perhaps this is not a widespread phenomenon, but have any of you considered the ramifications in regards to many jw families never saving for retirement or college funds, becues they thought the end was near, or college was a non-issue for so many of us?

just recently my parents never saved any money, becuase the promise of the end coming soon, but as old age creeps closer, i think some of the policy is revealing itself to be really bad advice.

i also wonder how long jws have to keep working after retirement age than the rest of the 'worldlies".

The elders in Abilene, Texas, gave me hell for going to court reporting school. Geez, even a trade school was forsaking Jehovah in their eyes. I'm glad I went anyway, as my other option was janitorial like the rest of the brothers in the hall. Still, the leading arsehole elder strode up to me one day after the meeting, while I was in the middle of a group talking, and said, "HATE TO SEE YOU THROW YOUR LIFE AWAY LIKE YOU ARE, BROTHER." Then he walked off.
Today he is a senile blubbering fool who doesn't know his own name.

Well, Valis, your J-Dub parents can get on their knocking Watchtower knees and thank God they have a fine son they can move in with that will support them and take care of them. LOL!!!!
