The women pass on what they do in fear of the men and of the religion. They feel they have no choice.

Sometimes the women use their powers of persuasion to show their husbands out of the cult

However, I have known some really stupid women in my time and I'm sure it's their type that have had a hand in the type of scenario you suggest. I grew up so angry about the little respect that was shown for women and lack of faith in their abilities, but as I grew older I realised that many of the women in the congregation wern't so bright and did let emotion rule their thinking in stereotypical form

Am I really any different if I try to persuade my child not to believe in some angry god? I guess I am in that I will be teaching them to analyse the facts and not just to "have faith" because that is what a "righteous" person does that is grateful to God (and doesn't want to get killed at the big A-Day).

Need help combatting disfellowshipping policy scripturally

hi i need some help to show that the scriptures used to uphold the disfellowshipping policy are actually only meant to apply to those that deny the christ blah blah.

not for me but someone close to me.

parents have disowned her.

i was doing some research yesterday on this scripture: 1 corinthians 4:6!.

"now, brothers, these things i have transferred so as to apply to myself and a?pollos for your good, that in our case you may learn the [rule]: do not go beyond the things that are written, in order that you may not be puffed up individually in favor of the one against the other.".

read this from the watchtower 2008, april 15th, page 7:.

Elders do not go beyond the things that are written in the Bible. And by extension, they do not go beyond the Bible-based counsel written in the publications of the faithful and discreet slave.

(from my fav book again):

Love of the Governing Body

at a recent sad the visiting bethel brother after passing on the love of the branch committee (which is bad enough, they used to say the 'bethel family' didn't they), he then made it worse (for me) by adding that he has also been told to pass on the love of the governing body.. that doesn't sit quite right with me but i can't really explain why.

any thoughts?.

Hi I need some help to show that the scriptures used to uphold the disfellowshipping policy are actually only meant to apply to those that deny the christ blah blah. Not for me but someone close to me. Parents have disowned her. But they love her dearly . She is 18!!! She has told them she doesn't think that the elders would be upset if her own family talks to her and they have responded that it is not about the elders but about "Jehovah" However, this may be a good thing, if she can email them with info that shows the "shunning" policy is unscriptural. Any help appreciated as I have concepts but not specifics.... I will continue to do my own research but if anyone has any pointers that would be great

At first the idea of having a kid read that passage about Esther made me mad too, until I realised I had let my young boy watch a kid drama about exactly that passage just the other day on a kids channel.

As far as pressure goes, I doubt the kid has experienced anything but joy in doing this. He is obviously exceptional. The sad times will come when he is older and trapped in a cult. I was a very bright kid myself, and was very young when I gave my first talk, but I remember it as being fun. My mum and I made a big poster that was a storyboard of my talk and I had it up on stage. I was very proud and everyone made me feel special. Of course I went on to become an attention seeking child, but I think I am that way inclined anyhow.

The kid will hopefully break out of the cult and do something with himself when he is older. He is obviously very smart. Teaching your kid to read young is a great thing, especially for a JW child, the sooner they can read the sooner they can read JWD!
