Me too. And I still have no desire to murder innocent people. In fact I've shed many many tears over what has happened over there at Newtown

I was the weird kid in the class....
by punkofnice in.......because i was raised a jw and not allowed to do anything like birthday parties and the like.. i was ridiculed because i was dragged around on the 'ministry'(tm) and my class mates saw and laughed.. i wasn't allowed to go into school morning assembly even though it wasn't religious...just in case.....so i used to get beat up in the cloak room.. i tried to fit in but had too many guilt trips.. i now loathe the god concept and the gb!.

My tree has nothing to do with Christianity or religion whatsoever lol...
Xmas will be about spending time together as a family for us, and presents too!

Not disfellowshipped, not shunned by JWs, but my Bro's Family? That's a whole different story...
by stuckinlimbo inso my niece was disfellowshipped about 18 months ago for having a worldly boyfriend who was obviously staying over at her place on a regular basis.
they now have a house together an are going strong.
her boyfriend is a nice guy.

It's about 7 months late but thank you to all of you who replied to this post for your responses. I did read them all and thought I had responded at them time but obviously I didn't . Thankfully my oldest niece is a strong girl and is doing well without her family, although it is still hurtful of course. I have actually read most of combatting cult mind control, but feel that in my family, the cult personality and the natural personality are so intertwined it is hard to define one without the other. We'll I'm fairly certain that's the case with my parents anyway .
Making a scene would have been bad for me emotionally and physically, most likely for my bub as well, who by the way is a very healthy, happy 6month old with a voracious appetite at the moment! Also embarassing for us businesswise, but most importantly, would mark me as an apostate and likely lead to an official announcement, which is what I don't want if I want to maintain contact with my parents for my children's sake. They are good grandparents to them and I do like to give my parents that joy as well as my kids.
Thanks again for all your thoughts. You really helped at the time because I don't feel so alone with this .

We put our first xmas tree up a few weeks ago also, but it is an artificial one. It looks fantastic though if I do say so myself! Has to be kept in a room though not main oart of house so any visiting JWs don't come across it. It has acually been very stressful for me because I have know idea what I will say if we are discovered, but I am not going to make my kids miss out because of that fear. I don't want them to be different to everybody else for no reason.
I am also in a rural area in NSW.
Here's to our new pagan trees

Did you ever shun people when you were a dub? How did it feel?
by oldlightnewshite inokay, i don't know lots of people that were df'd, but of all the times i've encountered df people when i was a dub, they actually blanked me!
it was always something that i had fixed in my mind that the jws had dead wrong, even when i was an uber dub.
i remember several times when i used to arrive late at meetings, and i'd make a point of getting eye contact with the poor dub at the back sitting on the naughty step.

I found the same thing OLNS, that the df'd person would avoid eye-contact with me. I would often try to catch their eye and smile. One person who we knew well was df'd I woukd always smile and say hello and we would talk to him after some time had passed and we belived it was taking to long for the cong to reinstate him, he was coming to all the meetings. When a close relative by marriage was df'd and I stayed at their house overnight, it was ME who was told to sit in another room on my own to eat breakfast so their family could eat together, their reasoning was that I was not IMMEDIATE family so I could not be in the same room as the disfellowshipped person to eat So I was the one being shunned
