Well of course they won't change... otherwise I'd be discussing this with some of my "friends".

Revelation talks about four horses. The verses in NWT say a seal is opened, and four horses ride forth. The first is on a white horse. He is given a bow, and a crown, and he goes forth conquering, and completing his conquest.
Now, NOTHING in this verse identifies him as Jesus. In fact, the Lamb (Jesus) opens the seal, so it seems kind of odd that the horseman is then Jesus. The Society's published Revelation book says because the horseman wears a crown, he must be Christ. Weak logic really.
Consider this: the horseman is the FIRST of four horseman, the other three of whom represent horrible consequences upon mankind including war, famine, and death. Does it not make sense that the first one also represents something horrible?
Here's the kicker: I heard it suggested that this horseman is an antichrist, perhaps a governmental entity since he wears a crown, who pulls people away from Christ and truth. He conquers the world with his lies, and fools them with his seeming 'innocence/purity' which is pictured by the white color.
Every seal broken in Revelation is some new manisfestation of God's anger towards man, so how can Jesus just randomly appear in the middle of all of it...? Doesn't make sense.
Comments/relfections on this subject welcome.

A honest question to all creationists

i dont have any clever arguments depending on what is answered, i am just curious.. first off i want to say that i think people are free to believe whatever they want.

I think I'd still wonder that evolution had created so much detailed, awesome diversity... and I would still be suspicious on the accuracy of carbon 14 dating.
As for Noah... lots of myths contain a global deluge story... I always thought that was interesting.
I tend to think things that appear in multiple myth systems are very interesting, such as a virgin having a boy child who becomes a powerful God... that appears in Egyptian and Mesopotamian myth, among others.

That sucks. With a dub, they just want you to say that they are right. Really, that's all they want. (It's what most people want)
SO
Try this line: I'm sorry, you're right.
And they say: "Then act like it" or something like that...
And you say: I'm going to work on it. You've been right all along. I'm sorry.
Then smile and offer a glass of wine/cup of hot choco/ something they like... or just go take a piss...
It's hard to argue with that.

Why Do I Not Care Anymore? Possibly a Rhetorical Question
by cantleave inthere was a time, not so very long ago, when a purpose in life was so important to me.
it mattered to me what i believed as to how we came here.
it mattered to me what happens after death.

Sounds like you're just tired of the racket.
Enjoy some peace in life, and come back to the questions when you want to... or not.

haha... boy, what if she'd been a mormon?
Sounds like your mom would've been crazy and strict regardless of religion... sympathies you ended up with that lot, and I hope your adult life has dealt you a better hand.

on the fence
by In inboy i gotta say, i just can't make up my damned mind.
everytime i'm starting to feel better about the jw's, a brother or sister or the watchtower will say something just totally wacky.
did anyone get that bit in the watchtower last week about no questions allowed what so ever!!

Let me establish one thing: I haven't got issues with mind control. I'm on the fence for other reasons.
I'm doing things exactly how I want to do them. Yeah, sometimes the rhetoric at the KH just kills me, but you know I've decent reasons for staying right now. I'm building my case. I have to do this a certain way, otherwise it will be unnecessarily destructive to both myself and others.
I visit this site to maintain sanity... and it's a welcome relief from the rhetoric.
Best,

Dssynergy: That’s almost EXACTLY why I stay. My family would be torn up, and I’d be put in the trash hole… I love them dearly, and don’t want to go through that pain, or put them through it. I’ve done this my whole life, it’s not too hard, and I’m good at turning my brain off, so why not stay for now?
I participate in a foreign language group, and it kind of lessens the brainwash aspect.

Linp24 and Donny: As MadSweeny’s post shows in paragraph #3, The Watchtower directed us to not develop an “independent spirit”, which makes sense if you want to create a harmonious organization. It’s basically saying, ‘please cooperate, and if you don’t agree, don’t be an ass about it.’ Unfortunately, the way the wording is, it often gets applied as a ‘no questioning’ kind of policy. Like, an elder said so, and we have to obey… crap like that.
No one will tell you not to ask questions, but if your question seems to suggest maybe you don’t believe the “faithful and discreet slave”, then you receive ‘strong counsel’. Like intervention… and its annoying sometimes because all I really want is someone to reason it through with me and talk to me about it, not to act like I’m a rebellious kid.
Don’t get me wrong, some dubs can give great answers, and that’s why many of us ‘on the fencers’ are still here. But a lot of them get hysterically upset that a baptized witness is asking those questions.
