  just a refresher on the jw explanation of the what number 666, the mark of the beast, really means:.

  the mark identified.

  immediately after disclosing the number 666, revelation mentions 144,000 followers of the lamb, jesus christ, who have his name and the name of his father, jehovah, written on their foreheads.

  Why 144,000 ?

  if god can read our hearts, why does he need an additional 144,000 creatures in heaven along with the already existing myriads of angels, to assist jesus in separating the sheep from the goats?

  is there any scriptural answer for this that you know of?.

  it was posted not to long ago here i remember.

  something about not persisting in a thought that is out of harmony with the gb & fds etc.... help!.

  The number 12 signifies a divine organizational arrangement.

  The number 1000 signifies "a lot"

  12^2 * 1000 = 144,000 = an uber divine organizational arrangement with a lot of angel/people.

  I thought the teaching was that the 144,000 would be men and womeh from all walks of life so that they could understand a wide range of human experiences and therefore judge them fairly. The thought just occured to me today that God or Jesus shouldn't need help in this if they can read an individuals heart. (whatever that means in reality) This arrangement was obviously made after Adam and Eve sinned because had that not happened, there would be no need for these 144,000 in heaven.

  witnesses, for some reason, feel they deserve massive credibility in bible predictions and interpretations.

  enough that they feel they have to right o be considered an universal authority.. their claim to fame comes from, mainly, their stance on blood, the trinity, immortality of the soul and hellfire.

  maybe this is actually what the bible teaches... but to me, it is a moot stance in regards to the position they claim to have a right to.. the witnesses have been heralding the coming of christ for well over a century.

  does anyone know where i can find all the books of the bible but as individual books and not all in one book ie: the bible?.

  not commentaries, just the actual books and letters.. the translation kind of matters but i know that "beggars can't be choosers".. .
