Mental Block...
by ForbiddenFruit inhi, i am a male in my late teens... now, as we all know, when you are a jw, even looking at the opposite sex is a deadly sin.
the most a boy can do to a girl without brother 90 year old virgin giving you a lecture, is awkward stares from across the room.
even a mere "hello" is enough to raise suspicions.. anyway, as time goes on, this thought pattern carries itself over, to even after you've left the organisation.. whenever you like a girl, you are scared to make any sort of approach, even a friendly one, in case someone (she) thinks you are a sexual pervert.

Sounds like a good thing to try and undo with cognitive therapy.

The pain got too much so I wrote to my daughter....
by Lozhasleft ini just wrote a message to my youngest daughter - its been over a year since we were in touch.
she moved to live with an older sibling and cut off contact with me.
she's only 17. its been heartbreaking.

Even if your daughter doesn't reply, I'm sure she will apprecite hearing from you and knowing that you care. Right now she is blinded by her loyalties to the religion. But in time she may start to see things more clearly and realize who cares about her.

What if JWs are right?!?
by brotherdan ini know this is a pointless question, but what if this happened:.
you came home from work one day, sat down, and turned on the tv.
there is a sudden announcement that the un has banned all religion.

One Christian guy said to my co-worker "Even if there's only 1% chance we're right, isn't it worth taking that chance if it means your salvation?"
The problem with that is that most religions are exclusive. Membership in another ensures destruction. You can't be a JW and a Mormon. You can't be a Mormon and a Baptist. You can't be a Baptist and a Muslim, etc.
Therefore with that line of reasoning alone, you can't win because if you stay in one "just in case", you are condemned to death by the others.
It's kind of like Religious Russian Roulette.

Ladies - Have you ever thought about shaving your head - all off?
by Lady Lee ini've thought about it.
when i first moved to ottawa i knew a woman who had shaved all her hair off and had tattoos all over her head - bizarre but interesting.. a few actresses have done it and they look fabulous although not all do and i doubt most men would love it.. for you fellows that shave bald - why do ou like it.

If it doesn't work out one can always wear a wig until it grows back. I knew one sister who wore different wigs as a mean to change her haistyle. Some of them looked quite nice.

Hi Lady Lee. No offense was intended, but I apologise if it gave the impression of making fun. The wording of your your oiginal post made me think of something funny which inspired me to do a parody thread. I I enjoy reading your posts here and your series on freeminds.

For those who don't know what herms, merms, or ferms are (Taken from http://songweaver.com/gender/whatru.html):
Between 3 million and 10 million Americans are neither male nor female at birth. Additionally, as adults they may be genetically of the opposite gender from that which they and their parents believe them to be.
The medical term for persons of ambiguous gender is "intersexual." Estimates of the numbers of persons who may be born intersexual ranges from 1 percent to 4 percent of all children born today, according to Dr. Anne Fausto-Sterling of the Division of Biology and Medicine at Brown University.
One cause of intersexuality seems to be the posession of an abnormal number of chromosomes only one or more than two. A second cause stems from the fact that all humans, no matter what their chromosomal makeup, have the biological capacity to develop either male or female genitalia and secondary sexual characteristics while in the womb. Developmentally, some babies are born with male or female chromosomal makeup and with both male and female genitalia, or with some of the genitalia of the opposite chromosomal sex.
Dr. Fausto-Sterling points out that there is a smooth continuum between 100 percent biologically male and 100 percent biologically female with many possibilities in between. She calls those with both testes and ovaries "herms." Those with testes and some female genitalia but no ovaries are "merms." Those with ovaries and some male genitalia but no testes are "ferms." This gives the possibility of five rough biological groupings: male, merm, herm, ferm and female.
