  yes the elders made another stop to continue to try to get me back to the meetings.

  my main argument with them has been the incorrect dates.

  607, 1914. they said i need to stop focusing on dates.

  @JunkYardDog: I was never a jw and never knocked on doors proclaiming the wts as Jehovah's org.

  Probably why you don't understand the "whiners" here at JWN. I don't know if I could have either if I had not been part of the religion. It's more than just a matter of how big one's balls are, though. Do YOU have to risk losing all your family, marriage mate, job, etc by changing your religion? Depending how much history we have in the religion, we have a lot of crap and emotional mess to sort out before/during/after leaving. Part of the role of this forum is to provide support for people as they transition out of the organization. Some do it in a few months, some takes years. I appreciate your efforts to "wake up" JWs, but everyone's path is different and we don't all do it in the heroic "screw-it-all" way.

  what is the wt's stance on dubs visiting historic churches?

  i drives me crazy when jw's go on tours of historic churches, the vatican, or mosques .

  they go in the church take pics, and oooo and ahhhhh over the buildings.. why the f_ _ _k are they expressing awe and wonder at what they believe to be satan's world headquarters .. don't they know jehovah is soon about to destroy all these architectural wonders.. jw relative has just come back from visiting the vatican.. stupid cult aaahhh !!.

  Worshipping in another church is a no-no.

  Going to a church building for other reasons is a "conscience matter". But as one elder told someone who asked about this: "Do you think that's where you'd want to be if the great tribulation breaks out then?"

  I was told about one elder who was reproved and deleted as an elder for "interfaith" because he was asked by a family to give a funeral talk at a local church.

  Swiss Branch closing down

  this newspaper article published in a capital news paper reports this including an interview with a watchtower spokesman.. it seems that less than half of the bethelites will be transferred to the german branch in selters that will supervise the work in switzerland from 2011.also, it seems that the branch offices in austria and luxembourg will undergo the same transition.

  the remaining bethelites will stay on in switzerland, some will go on as full time pioneers.. .

  1932-1971 how was the congregation run?

  the arrangement for body of elders and deacons / minsisterial servants existed pre-1932 (democratically elected) and post-1971 ("theocratically" appointed).. are there any here who remembers how things were run from 1932-1971?

  i see mention of the "congregation overseer" and a committee of men to carry out his instructions, but not too clear on much beyond this.

  did the congregatino overseer pretty much run the show and make all the decisions?

  Blondie, thanks for the source! I am going to start bookmarking and using these "sources" since they are obviously approved by the Governing Body if they use them in the magazines (which is probably one reason to leave out the source, people like me who may reason this way).

  Another reason they may have left out the source: if you read the quote and then kept on reading, this same BIble Scholar feels that Paul's attitudes with respect to women were a by-product of the times he lived in and that it would be very wrong to take these words out of context and make them a universal rule for the church.
