From day one. True, the women may be blind followers... but they are merely followers.

Without followers, there is no need for leaders.

In a lot of Asian countries, I have observed and have been told that it is mainly housewives who come into the truth, later bringing their husbands (sometimes) and children with them.

Thus, what is taught is not from men but from Jehovah. The basic premises here are that: Premise1: God's word, the Bible, is from Jehovah Premise2: Governing Body bases spiritual food on God's word Conclusion: What is taught is not from men, but from Jehovah Using this reasoning: ALL christian religions base their "spiritual food" on God's word. Even if their understanding doesn't agree, they are still based on God's word. Therefore, all Christian religions teach what is from Jehovah. While the argument is valid, it is not logically sound. Why? There is an important missing premise: Premise3: God "does not lie" Different Christian religions teach different things. They all base it on God's word. Since God does not lie, then conflicting teachings by different religions prove that just because a teaching is "bible-based" does not mean that the understanding of it is from God. Even internally, the Watchtower's own teachings over the years (ie. generation (literal -> anointed -> 1914 -> wicked -> anointed -> overlapping anointed), superior authority (worldly governments -> Jehovah/Jesus -> worldly governments), etc) confirm that these teachings/understandings were from men, not God. If you want to use the reasoning "God's word doesn't change, just our understanding of it does", that is fine. But it is not right to claim that your understanding is from God, then use that "authority" to enforce your understanding on others.

2010 - Year of the Governing Body?

let me explain by what i am getting at without sounding like captain obvious!

i am actually excited about this since i think this could help assist a ton of people out of this organization!!.

i believe that the governing body is stepping up efforts to emphasize their unconditional rulership - every wt study article seems to make reference to their authority.

Can I Say Anything Positive about JW's to the Wife?

mrs punk and i no longer discuss the jw business posing as religion.. all i get is a hand thrust into my face and a shout of: 'if you can't be positive don't say anything!!'.

i explain i am not trying to be 'negitive' but trying to be informative, factual and honest.

this is because mrs punk would ask: 'why don't you go to meetings anymore?'.

17 In El Salvador, one man tied his vicious dog in front of the door whenever he saw Jehovah’s Witnesses nearby. The man would wait for the Witnesses to move on, and then he would bring the dog back into the house. The brothers were never able to speak to the man. So one day they decided to try a different approach. Knowing that the man could hear what they were saying, they decided to preach to the dog. They came to the house, greeted the dog, and said how glad they were for the opportunity to speak to it. They talked about the time when there would be a paradise on earth, when no one would be angry—yes, when even the animals would be peaceable. Then they said a polite good-bye to the dog and started down the path. Much to their surprise, the man came out of his house and apologized for never having given the Witnesses the opportunity to speak to him. He accepted the magazines, and a Bible study was started. This man is now our brother—one of the “desirable things”!

Jehovah's Witnesses and their hypocritical entertainment choices.

the couple that i studied with were major hypocrites when it came to their entertainment choices.

i remember the first time i was invited to their house for dinner, this was the first time that we just hung out socially, and they were playing music.

a song came on sung by a girl group that liked to pretend they were bisexuals (or lesbians, whatever) and i thought 'hey, maybe these witnesses are pretty relaxed and cool after all'.. boy was i wrong.

I think many JW like some form of entertainment that they are taught is "wrong". They may feel guilty about it, so make up for their guilt by getting all righteous about how bad "other" entertainment is. There is a natural tendency to make oneself feel better by judging others according to one's own conscience.
