Here's a link to a bunch of pubs including (supposedly) the OKM, but it's in a .pdb file for Palmpilots. Can anyone convert this?

Watchtower's new entrants get to hear the Governing Body share their qualifications
by Dogpatch inhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-frdngnwvm .
here's a rare one you'll not find elsewhere, send it to your friends!.
new bethel entrants introduction to the governing body circa 1985. two new bethel boys at watchtower headquarters somehow managed to videotape this introduction to the brooklyn bethel headquarters of the governing body off of the bethel tv screen.

It is just awful, isn't it? The air is thick with platitudes, that John Wayne dude with the big nose oozes insincerity and between the lot of them you realize, Oh it was THOSE guys making all the rules?? I wish I'd seen this video earlier!
Randy (or anyone else), are you able to identify all the GB speakers by appearance/voice? Lloyd Barry (or Lord Barry as we used to call him when I lived in NZ and he visited), the New Zealander I know; Barr, the Scotsman, I know. The rest I don't. Who's who?

Others have already highlighted some gems. My favourites:
"I started off in the bindery, stitching booklets. The brother told us to hurry up and put the covers on the booklets because Armageddon was coming. So we hurried up and got the covers on. And Armageddon hasn't come yet, so ..." (6.04) And that doesn't make you wonder if it's all bullshit?
"When you receive a direct invitation from Jehovah through his organization, this is the place he wants you to serve." (Barr, 17.45) So a letter from the branch headquarters is actually a communication from God?
"There's nothing here on this earth to compare with God's organization. There's never been anything, even in Bible times, to compare with what Jehovah has now or what he is doing." (Barry, 18.54). Moses parting the Red Sea, amateur stuff! Manna? Don't make me laugh! Jesus and the apostles healing the sick and raising the dead? Pretenders!

Probably going to be DFed for "apostasy" soon
by WontLeave ini've been doing a lot of research lately and decided i'm not going to allow the losers in cheap suits to order me around like their dog.
they are not masters of my faith and have no authority to 'lord it over' me.. all the same, many even of the rulers actually put faith in him, but because of the pharisees they would not confess [him], in order not to be expelled from the synagogue; for they loved the glory of men more than even the glory of god.

You are so right WontLeave: Among Witnesses there is a dread of displeasing The Organization, which:
- Goes beyond the things written with its endless rules, requirements and assumptions;
- Judges others;
- Places human burdens on followers with the claim that carrying those burdens pleases God;
- Overrides Christian conscience with its own dictates;
- Confuses programmed, regimented, time-calculated conscripted "service" with Christian good works;
- Tickles the ears of its followers;
- Forces followers to die out of a dogmatic, ignorant and twisted interpretation of God's laws on eating blood; and
- Dishonors God with its concoction of scarey Arnageddon scenarios and petty, exclusivist viewpoints on who God is willing to "save".
The shame of it is that so many of the decent people sickened by the pettiness, control, hypocrisy and lies not only quit the Organization, but abandon God along with it.
Matthew 23:23, 28: "Alas for you, scribes and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You who pay your tithe of mint and dill and cummon and have neglected the weightier matters of the Law -- justice, mercy, good faith! You appear to people from the outside like good honest men, but inside you are full of hyporcisy and lawlessness."

in need of a good brochure
by loosie ini have neighbors that the witness are obviously having a bible study with, they come by weekly in skirts and their 4 door car.. i need a good brochure that i can leave on their door everytime the jw's come by.. can anyone reccomend one?.

Don't mean to be picky, but "discreet" is mis-spelt and reference to the Watch Tower Society should be as two words (Watch Tower) not one.
What is the significance of the question about donations? James Penton's book concluded that most donations do go to running branches and funding missionary activity.
Any brochure should focus on the high level of control exerted over members by the WTS, including the requirement to engage in regular, lifelong field service, with an obligation to report all such activity for ongoing monitoring, and the consequences of leaving the religion (shunning by family and existing members).
That said, it's a good looking brochure.

Are Faith and Reason Compatible? Jan Awake
by DanaBug inhere's some quotes from that article:.
the bible says, for example, that if your worship is to be acceptable to god, it must be a sacred service with your power of reason.
in other words, you must worship god in a way that is worthy of thinking beings.

faith based on falsehood is only a delusion.
How very true. And yet how many Witnesses could explain the factual basis on which they believe the doctrines of the WTS? Please explain:
- The significance of 1914, in view of the fact that the "pivotal" date of 607 is demonstrably wrong.
- Biblical proof that God has a Christian "organization" and that that organization is the WTS.
- Why he has a "faithful and discreet slave" to "feed" his followers, yet there is no process by which individual members of that are able to influence beliefs and practices of Jehovah's Witnesses.
- The process by which the Governing Body arrives at its doctrines, and why fundamental "truths" that were once given as proof that God had bestowed its blessing on this "organization" have since completely changed.
- What "slave class" CT Russell consulted with when he formed the Bible Students and established Watchtower doctrines.
- Why JF Rutherford, who introduced major, fundamental changes to both WTS doctrines and the nature of the organization, achieved this only after he opposed, and then sacked, a majority of the WTS board of directors in 1917 (subsequently described as the governing body of true Christians) and yet is still considered to have been acting in accord with theocratic governance.
- Why the reference to 144,000 in Revelation is treated as literal, but every other number is symbolic.
- Why the practice of shunning individuals and family members who make a conscientious decision to leave a religious denomination, which is clearly contrary to the teachings of Christ, is cited as evidence of Christ's active direction of his organization.

December 15th WT gives example of sister who quit her job so she could go to an convention.
by life is to short ini was beyond mad when i heard this.
it is on page 30 of the wt.. it says "a pioneer named roxana is one who has seen how jehovah provides for his people.
when she asked her employer for permission to take some days off to attend one of our conventions, he angrily retorted that if she went, he would fire her.

Output at that factory will presumably plummet several times a year as workers tell their boss they need ANOTHER weekend off to go to an idoctrination session and reduced hours so they can go pioneering. The boss won't mind; he'll be confident Jehovah will cover all costs.
