Most-Ignored Scriptures by JWs
by Mad Sweeney inthe watchtower has been known for over 130 years as a great scriptural cherry-picker.
they pick out disparate unrelated verses and combine them to support the wackiest of wacky doctrines.. on the other hand there are many scriptures they almost never address, whether because they contradict wt doctrine or because they simply don't have a clue what they mean or how to spin them to the wt advantage.. one of these is revelation 19:1 that mentions a "great crowd" "in heaven.
" the only time it is ever brought up it is dismissed.

Funny you mention this one I brought it up to my wife during an argument, she told me the great crowd was the 144,000 ... when I told her that the watchtower calls the great crowd the non-144,000 who are suppose to be on "Paradise Earth" she told me I didn't know what I was talking about and repeated that the great crowd was the 144,000...
Yeeesh....

wow garyneal... not to hijack your thread, but it amazes just how her actions towards you are EXACTLY how my wifes actions are towards me.. I have endless nights of alone time where I've become depressed because of all her JW/KH time .... Its gotten really bad between us within the last week to the point where I'm now moving out of our bedroom into another bedroom... our relationship as become so shallow and almost non existent.
She spends all her time doing KH stuff now, and inside of our baby's diaper bag I noticed Theocratic Ministry books amongst all the other (about 15) books and all are highlighted throurougly...
I wish I had the same patience you have.. (btw my wife is also pregnant, which also adds hormones to the whole thing)...
Today (Monday), I ask my wife if we can find some fun things to do together as a family. Her reply is that she is so busy with work, school, and Kingdom Hall activities. It bothered me a bit and I said, "You are not willing to make time for your family? For me?" She said, "The things I want us to do together as a family you do not want to do." (Read: become a JW and worship the faithful slave)
This has come up in our arguments about once a week... almost verbatum...
I don't understand how it is that they can be in this religion that scares them so much that they are willingly giving up their own family and own happiness to be enslaved by them. My wife is normally a reasonable person when it comes to things... she can think things out logically.. but it amazes me that she's so willing to blindly follow a cult like this...
I'll be praying for you Gary...

:Now if government is bad, and people run governments, does that make people bad? Just asking.
I don't have time to answer the rest cus its late, but for this one... people are human.. unfortunately humans sin... however, the humans have something the government doesn't.... a controlling authority.. but who governs the government? Yes people run the government, and they are inherently evil, so they do evil things and if they are the ones in charge, then they will do evil things without someone punishing them...
then if the government becomes tyranical, ie mao, hitler, stalin, any of the african/middle eastern war lords... etc...etc..., there is no controlling authority aside from a stronger foreign power.. and the UN is not a controlling authority and never will be (unless you consider writing strongly worded letters authority).
Therefore, they are free to do whatever they want to their people. Look back at history when we had the upwards of 75% income tax during world war i and a whopping 94% at the highest level during world war II ... so if you don't think its possible for OUR government to take everything from us and find a way to keep it... think again...
Our founding fathers developed our government for the people by he people simply to provide for the common defense, preserve life, liberty and *pursuit* of happiness (not to provide happiness) and to regulate interstate commerce. Nowhere in our founding documents does it give the government permission to take tax money from an honest working citizen to give to a less fortunate.. because as seen over and over again throughout history, it leads down a very dark path...
Leave it to the populous to take care of its own, not the government...
:Are you familiar with the "poor laws" of colonial times?
I've read up on them briefly, and it doesn't take much research to show that they're simply social welfare programs instituted from about 1500 to 1900, and just like today there were several government studies done in europe where it was believed that the "poor laws" made the "poor" problem worse by providing free money/services to people who were otherwise able bodied... anyways I'll write more on that tomorrow.. off to bed

Well articulated. The minute people start working for the good of the State instead of themselves and each other, tyranny is inevitable.
Thank you sir, and history has proven your point. Once the government or state takes control of providing for its citizens, history has shown in almost every case that it causes more people to become poor and needy.

again, government versus society... Its our duty to help the poor and desolate, even if illegal, but not the governments, look at many of the african countries of which we send billions in aid to, so the government can "help the poor" by selling the aid on the black market and using it to fund military operations. Once the government controls something, there's no higher power (especially in a so-called secular nation like ours) to hold their feet to the fire.
