Beards?
by Think About It ini'm new here and probably missed the latest discussion of the beard topic.
what's the latest on beards in jw society?
i'm 2 weeks into a beard and just got to wondering about it.

I always thought the beard rule was stupid, my hubby has had a beard as long as I have known him and keeps it very neat and tidy and I would have hated him having to shave it off.
When we were active he still had some Congo privileges, but I expect he would never have been appointed to MS with it not that he cared.
However back in the late 80’s early 90's we had a lovely brother join the Congo who had a beard and he was hounded because of it. I always felt sorry for him and his wife he had been an elder for many years previously and was one of the few good guys, but our loving brothers were so cruel it sent him crazy and all over a beard.

Sex before marriage
by spawn inis it such a bad thing to have sex before marriage?.
should you "try before you buy"?.

Magwitch believe me you can still have an active sex life when you’re married.
What really puts a dampener on things is when you have children.

Conventions/Assemblies in England
by ScottyRex indoes anyone remember haysbridge, crystal palace, twickenham, dorking from the 80's/90's.........so many memories there.
the 5p lunch vouchers, the aroma of bacon rolls and hot doughnuts at twickenham, the smell of coffee as 50,000 odd opened their thermos flasks at lunchtime.
walking around endless laps of the perimeter of the stadium at break times, watching the airplanes flying low over twickenham stadium en route to heathrow.. cinema style seats at dorking assembly hall, the baptismal pool built into the stage, flapping my hands in the water and getting told off.

True, but I still think it was a crazy thing to do and not that effective.

Yes the GB knows what's inspired or not no need to listen to that Jesus guy or his apostles.
Or could it just be that these books didn't fit certain peoples doctrinal agendas?

Is WT Violating International Law?
by cameo-d inapostasy in law.
international law.
article 18.2 bars coersion that would impair the right to have or adopt a belief...including use of threat, physical force or penal sanctions to compel believers to adhere to religious beliefs.... .

Interesting point, but would require a test case to set a president in law.

Like you xbro even though you leave the doctrines stay with you. I think there are many still out there that have left, but still believe the JW BS.
I did the most stupid thing got out in 96/97 and then sucked back in, wish I had known then what I do now.
The Internet has been a great help and it’s also how I make a living so I love it.

Remember Twickers as a kid and getting the first My Book of Bible Stories (boy is that an awful book for kids). I was sick on the way and we had to walk miles.
Dorking yes that too I lost my silver ring in the pool.
Southampton bomb scare and streaker plus the crazy guy who used to picket outside the grounds.
