I'm not a JW and never have been, but my bro is and has been for 20+ years. He and his family [wife and 2 kids]. Nothing has gone right for them since being baptised as JWs. Every decision has been a train wreck from home schooling, to his business (he owned a successful business), their married life has been full of controvesy, not attending family funerals, being quite judgemental and when I finally learned enough scripture to show how he has been duped, he answered that he didn't care. He didn;t care that he's been lied to for years and that his fruits are falling to the ground and rotting. My prayer is that he will return to our family with his family and we can pray with love, hope and faith for a brighter future......I'm not holding my breath.

Everlasting punishment is a myth and a lie invented by Satan. Hell is merely mankind's common grave. And it is assuredly not a fiery torture. Hell is a place where the dead are conscience of nothing, obviously feeling no pain. Thus Christiandoms's doctrine of hellfire is unbiblical. LET GOD BE TRUE 1952 PGS 88-99 AND REASONING FROM SCRIPTURES 1985 PGS 168-175
Everlasting fire prepared for the Devil and his angels [Matt 25;41]
while still alive, they both [the beast and the false prophet] were hurled into the fiery lake that burns with sulphur, where they will be tormented day and night for ever and ever [Rev 20'10]
Father Abraham, have mercy on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water to cool my tongue, because I am in anguish in this blazing fire [Luke 16;24]
Where the maggot does not die and the fire is not put out [Mark 9;48]
weeping and gnashing of teeth [Matt 8;12]
hmmm, it seems that hell is a biblical concept, doesn't it? Sure, it's meaning has changed from just the land of the dead to different levels of joy and suffering from the dead, but clearly, hell is a biblical concept. Check the good book for yourself. Jesus actually spoke more of hell than of heaven. Some things were brought to more light after the good news was proclaimed.
The anti - scripture rhetoric reminds me of some JW position I once read that said 'The bible couldn't have meant that' even though it's right there in scripture. If you believe in God's word, how could you think that you could know better than He?
I always thought that Paul taught from the knowledge that he was given,[like the rest of the apostles]. Jesus himself adopted Paul as an apostle, didn't he? How can you argue against that?
there's different translations regarding the corinthian text, but i pasted the new living translation 2007" version as its the most colorful.. now, i will speak to the rest of you, though i do not have a direct command from the lord.
if a christian man has a wife who is not a believer and she is willing to continue living with him, he must not leave her.. so paul highlights the fact that he's speaking from his view in this letter.
on the other hand we have paul's letter to timothy which goes, "all scripture is god-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17so that the man of god may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.
Doesn't scripture say 'what God has brought together, let no one pull apart'. Sorry, I don;t have the book, chap and verse, but I'm sure it rings a bell. I know that there are other scriptures indicating that husbands and wives can decide to leave each other, but no one should tell a person to leave their husband or wife. IMHO of course.
Great John painting Burn. I remember hearing that story before, but forgot it's source. Do you know?. Is it in scriptures or one of the church fathers?
I just came upon this post and wow~Holy cow Cameo-D. You actually believe this crap that you're saying against the wisdom of God! Sure, the slaves were having a good old time building Pharoes' cities. Yes, they had to eat things that were bitter for rememberance of the truth. And if you don't like Jesus's look in a painting, then I gotta ask, What did you think of the Ark of the Covenant design? Paganism?!
