For Perry: There was no global flood, so stop looking for Noah's Ark

forget about noahs ark; there was no worldwide flood.

many people have contacted me about the recent claims by a group called noahs ark ministries international.1 the evangelical organization claims to have discovered noahs ark.2 i have responded on several occasions to these dubious claims on my blog.3 and still, this group has stood behind their claim,4 insisting that what they have found is real based largely on the belief that because the bible says the flood and the ark are historical, it must be so.

so, instead of addressing their spurious claims yet again, i thought i would approach the issue from a different angle: forget about noahs ark; there was no world-wide flood.. the worldwide flood described in genesis 6-9 is not historical, but rather a combination of at least two flood stories, both of which descended from earlier mesopotamian flood narratives.

You must go one the assumption that the words of Matthew 24 were actually spoken by a young Jewish man in the 1st Century living in Palestine. Without the originals, and knowing the early Bishops edited, added texts and dialogue and snipped here and there you have a basic issue of belief versus academic and archeological criticisms. You believe the story contained in certain manuscripts for the 4th century on. We understand, we did to. Trying to promote and convert people to the Baptist mindset isn't a good idea. If you want to promote the Golden Rule you would find more in agreement.

I think it was Justin Martyr who talked about not getting hung up on the Filioque and miss doing good to your fellow humans each day.

If you really believed that, then you must be quite upset about going to peoples houses for years and preaching the good word, God's word only to find out that it was not God's word, it has been tampered with. If I believed that, I would not be promoting the bible to anyone and certainly would not be a Christian [or JW for that matter]. As far as Justin Martyr goes, I doubt that you have ever read any of his [3 complete works] as he unequivically states that Jesus is God. Sure, he does call Jesus 'King, and Priest, and God, and Lord, and angel and captian, and stone, and Son' Dialogue with Trypho the Jew pg34. In Greek angel is angelos which is accurately translated as messenger and Jesus could indeed be the messenger of his Father's will. He knew Jesus as God and his works reflect that truth.

Jwoods asked [and I'm sure others are also wondering] why priests and nuns are celibate. The answer is in scripture and is clear as day. In Paul's 1st letter to the Corinthians he proclaims that being married is good, but not marrying and giving your all to the Lord [like he does] is better.

Ordaining women is not what the Lord wanted. This was a mission of men. Very sorry, but women have other capacities in the church. During pentacost when the Holy Ghost decended upon the apostles and Mary [the mother of our Lord], the apostles then became Christ's priests. Mary did not and she was [is] the most blessed woman who ever lived, she is discribed as being full of grace and grace saves us from sin, yet she was not a priest. With that in mind, one can see why the Church does not and will not ordain any women.

Faithful slave has been around since the 1st Century?? So why DIDN'T Charles Russell join them?

the watchtower claims there has been a "faithful slave" since jesus time till now so.....why did russell go independent and start his own group of bible students?

why did he claim the title for himself alone?.

Look at Russell's history

Miracle wheat- Russell claimed that for $60 per bushel [which was very expensive!] you too could buy his miracle wheat which he claimed grew 5 times faster thatn regular wheat. Government experts testified that his wheat yeilded less than regular wheat. Russell was sued nd found guilty and forced to return all the money. The Brooklyn Daily Eagle [jan 27, 1913 and Nov 1, 1916]

Lies in Studies in Scripture about his divorce. After 17 years of marriage the courts awarded Maria Frances Ackley a divorce finding Russell at fault. Russell said it was about management of his journal [Charles Taze Russell, Studies in Scripture, 1925-1927 1:1-His wife stated that the grounds for divorce included 'his conceit, egotism, domination, and improper conduct in relation to other women' author Bruce M. Metzger wrote. Russell appealled the divorce 5x, all rejected.

Russells claims of higher learning were also suspect as he claimed to know Hebrew, Greek and Latin. Under oath in the High Court of Ontario [Russell vs Ross mar 17, 1913] he was force to admit that he was not familiar with those languages. He later admitted that he was never ordained after first stating that he was. He later admitted that he had only 7 years of school and dropped out at the age of 14 years old.

It was an Adventist named Nelson Barbour who first convinced Russell that Jesus had returned [invisibly] in 1874. Jehovah's Witnesses in the Divine Purpose 1959 , pg 18. Later publications confirmed this belief with titles like Zion's Watchtower and Herold of Christ's presence.

The Watchtower itself has been distancing itself from Russell's teachings as is proved in the Awake [May 8, 1951 pg 26] "Who is preaching the teachings of Russell? Certainly not the Jehovah's Witnesses! The Watchtower Dec 1, 1916 "like the disciples of old our own hearts burned within us as we listened to his clear and beautiful unfolding of the word of God. We thus learned that we were sitting at the feet of God, and also the greatest Bible scholar since the day of the apostles" High praise indeed for such a man....

It is interesting to note that many JWs are unaware that Charles Russell had ever declared himself the 7th angel of Revelation.

According to author Jason Evert, Charles Russell further declared that the other 6 angels were the apostles Paul and John, the heretic Arius [condemned by the 1st Ecumenical council at Nicaea for denying the divinity of Christ], Peter Waldo [of the gnostic Waldensian sect], John Wycliff and Martin Luther. History has already proved many of his beliefs to be false.

In Hebrew, there are 2 words for one. There is YACHID which means one, only one, something singular. The other word for one is ECHAD which means a unity of several parts or things as in 'evening and morning became one [echad] day' or 'husband and wife become one [echad] flesh'.

It is the word ECHAD which is used in the Jewish Shema which declares that the Lord your God is one [echad] Lord.

So, again please, my question to you is what does that mean to you? What do you think Moses thought when he wrote the words?

What do you think Moses meant when he wrote in the bible that the Lord your God is one [echad] Lord?

Keep in mind that you know echad means more than one thing to create one.

Yes, there is one God. The Lord your God is one. No question about that. What is interesting to note [and to know] is that you continue to deny the other half of this truth. Please let me explain briefly.

In Hebrew, there are 2 words for one. There is YACHID which means one, only one, something singular. The other word for one is ECHAD which means a unity of several parts or things as in 'evening and morning became one [echad] day' or 'husband and wife become one [echad] flesh'.

It is the word ECHAD which is used in the Jewish Shema which declares that the Lord your God is one [echad] Lord. So it doesn't take a brain surgeon to follow the logic, does it? Is that conclusive proof that there is a Trinity? No, but it is proof that there is more to God than the WTS would have us believe.

Other examples include in Gen 'Let us make man in our image, according to our likeness'. Still more old testament proofs of God's plurality is found at the Tower of Babel when God says 'Let us go down', ofcourse, he came down alone.

I know that these are scriptures that you would deny...too bad for you. I'll keep you in my prayers kids.

ps- You still never addressed the whole EGO EIMI from John 8;58. Ego Eimi means literally 'I am'. I have been is an incorrect translation that has been altered to appear that the WTS position could be accurate. Of course we know that is not the case as the Jews were going to stone Jesus for blasphemy after he said ego eimi. Apparently Jesus knew who he was, eh?
