Any proof of such a claim?.....real, scholarly, proof, something other than a copy and posted Watchtower or awake please.

MadJW, The apostate doctrine of the immortality of the soul is another of Christiandom's unscriptural traditions stemming from Greek philosophy. 'For the living are conscience that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscience of nothing at all' [eccl 9;5]. The doctrine of the inherent immortality of the soul is the main one that the devil has used down through the ages to decieve people and holding them in bondage to religion. Reasoning from scriptures 1985, 375-380.
I was so confused as the soul [nephesh in Hebrew and psuche in Greek] is referenced over 900 times in the bible. How easy it now is to know that the soul can be summed up in only one scripture. hmmm, but what about these other scriptures like
NWT Gen 35 17-20 17 But so it was that while she had difficulty in making the delivery the midwife said to her: “Do not be afraid, for you will have this son also.” 18 And the result was that as her soul was going out (because she died) she called his name Ben-o´ni; but his father called him Benjamin. 19 Thus Rachel died and was buried on the way to Eph´rath, that is to say, Beth´le·hem. 20 Hence Jacob stationed a pillar over her grave. This is the pillar of Rachel’s grave down to this day.
NWT 1Kings 17 21 And he proceeded to stretch himself upon the child three times and call to Jehovah and say: “O Jehovah my God, please, cause the soul of this child to come back within him.” [why did he do that 3x?]dc
NWT Rev 6 9 And when he opened the fifth seal, I saw underneath the altar the souls of those slaughtered because of the word of God and because of the witness work that they used to have. 10 And they cried with a loud voice, saying: “Until when, Sovereign Lord holy and true, are you refraining from judging and avenging our blood upon those who dwell on the earth?” 11 And a white robe was given to each of them; and they were told to rest a little while longer, until the number was filled also of their fellow slaves and their brothers who were about to be killed as they also had been.

forget about noahs ark; there was no worldwide flood.
many people have contacted me about the recent claims by a group called noahs ark ministries international.1 the evangelical organization claims to have discovered noahs ark.2 i have responded on several occasions to these dubious claims on my blog.3 and still, this group has stood behind their claim,4 insisting that what they have found is real based largely on the belief that because the bible says the flood and the ark are historical, it must be so.
so, instead of addressing their spurious claims yet again, i thought i would approach the issue from a different angle: forget about noahs ark; there was no world-wide flood.. the worldwide flood described in genesis 6-9 is not historical, but rather a combination of at least two flood stories, both of which descended from earlier mesopotamian flood narratives.
Fair enough Designs, I have to find your previous threads , go through them to get these answers. Could you please just elaborate on your comment about bishops/cardinals altering or tampering with scriptures. Just that one question please. If that is true, i would want to know as I am a catholic and want to know. I know that there has been 3 different councils through the early church years who had voted on the cannon accepted as the word of God. The 1st voted council was at the end of the 1st century, the 2nd was at the beginning of the 3rd century and the last was at the end of the 3rd century. The point is that the accepted bible cannon has not changed much at all since the 1st to the 3rd council. No books were removed that were preciously voted in, so where, when, and who made these changes that you post about?!

Comrade Titus, I would not get mad at MADJW comments. I really enjoy his posts and yours too, but for different reasons. I like his humor and I like your candor. I know that you're still a JW, but you are not letting that cloud your vision totally. Yes, I can see that the skies are starting to clear for you. Wouldn't it be great if Mad could see a little better too?......He is here making up stuff and I'm not taking any of it seriously. As a matter of fact, no one takes what he says seriously. We are all just being entertained by a showman. Will he see the truth? I'm not holding my breath, but I am praying.
sincerely,

Designs, you certainly don;t speak as one who has an education from 'friends' in seminaries. If that were true, you would have left the WTS years earlier. When did you discover your 'truth' that the bible was tampered with. What proofs do you have? Why did you continue to go door to door with a Catholic book [the bible] and call Catholics apostates? If the bible is a catholic book, then it is not possible for catholics to be apostates,is it?

Plankton, still denying the 'truth'?
Jesus' fleshly body was disposed of by Jehovah God- disolved into its constitutive elements or atoms, or perhaps it was disolved into gas or preserved somewhere as a memorial to God's love, perhaps to be exhibited to the people of the millennial age. After he rose, he used a body with wounds in order to convince Thomas of who he was. He was recreated by Jehovah God as an invisible spirit creature. Watchtower, sept 1,1953 518; Studies in scriptures 1889, 2:129; The harp of God 1928, 172-173; You can live forever, 145; From paradise lost to paradise gained, 1958, 144; Reasoning from scriptures 1985, 217-218.
hahahahahaahahhaahahahahaha. Scripture says something totally different!
NWT Luke chapt24 37 But because they were terrified, and had become frightened, they were imagining they beheld a spirit. 38 So he said to them: “Why are YOU troubled, and why is it doubts come up in YOUR hearts? 39 See my hands and my feet, that it is I myself; feel me and see, because a spirit does not have flesh and bones just as YOU behold that I have.” 40 [[And as he said this he showed them his hands and his feet.]] 41 But while they were still not believing for sheer joy and were wondering, he said to them: “Do YOU have something there to eat?” 42 And they handed him a piece of broiled fish; 43 and he took it and ate it before their eyes.

You must go one the assumption that the words of Matthew 24 were actually spoken by a young Jewish man in the 1st Century living in Palestine. Without the originals, and knowing the early Bishops edited, added texts and dialogue and snipped here and there you have a basic issue of belief versus academic and archeological criticisms. You believe the story contained in certain manuscripts for the 4th century on. We understand, we did to. Trying to promote and convert people to the Baptist mindset isn't a good idea. If you want to promote the Golden Rule you would find more in agreement.
I think it was Justin Martyr who talked about not getting hung up on the Filioque and miss doing good to your fellow humans each day.
If you really believed that, then you must be quite upset about going to peoples houses for years and preaching the good word, God's word only to find out that it was not God's word, it has been tampered with. If I believed that, I would not be promoting the bible to anyone and certainly would not be a Christian [or JW for that matter]. As far as Justin Martyr goes, I doubt that you have ever read any of his [3 complete works] as he unequivically states that Jesus is God. Sure, he does call Jesus 'King, and Priest, and God, and Lord, and angel and captian, and stone, and Son' Dialogue with Trypho the Jew pg34. In Greek angel is angelos which is accurately translated as messenger and Jesus could indeed be the messenger of his Father's will. He knew Jesus as God and his works reflect that truth.

Oh Plankton, won't you ever learn?! I'll include some NWT scriptures after a Watchtower quote. ...please, no laughing out loud..
The man Jesus is dead forever. We deny that HE was raised in the flesh, and challenge any statement to that effect as being unscriptural. Studies in scriptures 1899 5;454, studies in scriptures 1917 7;57
The New World Translation reads
NWT John 2 vs19-21- 19 In answer Jesus said to them: “Break down this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” 20 Therefore the Jews said: “This temple was built in forty-six years, and will you raise it up in three days?” 21 But he was talking about the temple of his body.
And we all know how accurate the New world translation is, right Plankton?

Jwoods asked [and I'm sure others are also wondering] why priests and nuns are celibate. The answer is in scripture and is clear as day. In Paul's 1st letter to the Corinthians he proclaims that being married is good, but not marrying and giving your all to the Lord [like he does] is better.
1 Corinthians 32-34: “The unmarried man is anxious about the affairs of the Lord, how to please the Lord, but the married man is anxious about worldly affairs, how to please his wife, and his interests are divided.” respectfully, dc
