a few months ago two jw women caught me unexpectedly, so they talk about the.
usual jw none sense.
the nite before i was reading and researching the nephilim.. more proof to disclaim the flood.
I remember [from Greek Mythology in HS in 1982] that Greek heros were born out of relations from the mythological gods and humans. There is a parallel between these 'men of renown' and Greek heros [Hercules, Archilles, Odysseus, Perseus, Jason, etc].
By believing in the scriptures, I would have to say that my personal belief is that the Greek heros were actually the offspring of the fallen angels and the Nephilim. Of course that could be subject to change as I am enlighten by the studious and scholarly members of JWnet.

is the doctrine of hell a hindrance or a help in witnessing?
many evangelicals are ashamed of this biblical doctrine, viewing it as a blemish to be covered up by the cosmetic of divine love.
but this dishonors gods word.
To me, the bible makes total sense. Not that I'm a fundamentalist, but I think of the bible meaning what it says. That Jesus [and others] desended down infers below my feet. Couple that with the scriptural references that hell is at the earths center lead me to believe that [a biblical] hell is at the earths core. I know, it's crazy, but that is what the scriptures say, and the technology to prove or disprove this theory does not yet exist.
An example of the soul/spirit/body differential, in Genesis can easily be explained. God created the world in seven days. Obviously the days are different [longer] where he resides, heaven, [even if he is everywhere]. Adam was the 1st man made with a soul, but the nephilim had already been on the earth and were [more than likely] the humans [with spirit, but not a soul] that the fallen angels had relations with, [as recorded in Genesis].
On the trinity comments, it should be noted that scripture states that Jesus Christ is God, That the Father is God, That the Holy Ghost is God without using the word trinity, it is non the less scripturally inferred. One example is that Jesus orders us to baptise on the name of the Father, the Son & the Holy Ghost. One name for the 3 separate beings. Wait for the helper, not wait for help...the Holy Ghost is the Helper.
Of course this is just my own thought process as one must ultimately make a 'leap of faith' when you actually accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. When you know that Jesus would have gone through it all, just for you, even if you were the only person on earth, well, then you've made the leap too!

These are some physical references of hell. Jesus decended to hell after his death on the cross/torture tree. The following are from the JW bible.
NWT - EPH ch4 vs 9 Now the expression “he ascended,” what does it mean but that he also descended into the lower regions, that is, the earth? 10 The very one that descended is also the one that ascended far above all the heavens, that he might give fullness to all things
N WT - MATH ch12- vs 40 For just as Jo´nah was in the belly of the huge fish three days and three nights, so the Son of man will be in the heart of the earth three days and three nights.

Also worth mentioning that scripture indicates that hell is beneath the earth. Sorry, I don't have the chapt and verse on hand
perhaps Stephen?

Confutation 1. Where is Hell with a God that is Omnipresent (everywhere).
Designs, That's a good question. I don't have an answer, but I do believe the bible is the word of God...........
so, I guess I believe in hell. As a topic, hell is quite scriptural. It would be contrary to God's justice to think that my ultimate fate would be the same as Adolf Hitler's.
Again, just my humble O.

Some very funny and interesting posts on this subject. The bottom line is what do you believe? Do you believe the bible is the word of God?
The bible is quite clear that Jesus rose to heaven bodily. He wasn't the only one either, wasn't someone else in the OT taken to heaven on a fiery chariot?
How could he live? I guess with God, all things are possible. Do you believe that bible is the word of God or not.
Jesus spoke more of hell than heaven you know, but if the bible is just an interesting book, then no, there is no hell and Jesus never rose to heaven.
If the bible is the word of God, then, yes, there is a hell for the false prophet, fallen angels and those who refuse their savior.
Just adding my humble opinion.

my dad was a catholic and told me many times that the church had secrets stored up regarding the book of reverlation, and if they were to become public knowledge this would cause world panic, do you have any info on this as it's well known in the uk..
This is the typical bs I hear and read from many Catholic haters. Of course, no proof is ever provided about these rumors. Who creates more fear through the book of revelation than the Watchtower? Who changes scripture and twists it to mean something other than what it says? The bible is a Catholic book. They voted on the canon and they have 2,000 years of bringing it to the people. Conversely, the Watchtower asserts that it has a new and different teaching of Christ Jesus. Totally contridicting the word of God.
I've been away a little while, too bad to hear that some people still equate evil people in the Catholic faith as Catholic teachings. One should look at it's teachings to see the truth, not the sinners in any church. As scripture states, the Church is made up of the good and bad and the Lord will seperate the wheat from the chaffe.

working in a bookstore i notice the thousands and thousands of books "explaining" what the bible really "means.".
those are what people read.. when people say they read the bible they are really saying they "try".
but, it is like reading chinese.. so, what they end up doing is reading opinions.. opinions, conjectures, hypothesis, fantasy, imaginative ruminations, fanciful concoctions......other people's ideas presented as documentary fact.. .
designs, could you be more specific? Where would I find this proof that this was actual Christian teachings. Not some teaching that was voted heresy by a council of elders if you please.

Well, it seems to me the IF the writers and law makers of the OT and Old covenant had gotten it right, there would have been no need for Jesus to come into the picture.
Of course if you don't believe in Jesus and his Lordship, then it is a moot point.
I always thought that Jesus had to come because of Adam and Eve.....am I wrong?
