Trinity...cross...Does it matter?
it does if you want accurate knowledge of Jesus Christ and the church to him that he paid with his own blood.
i've been thinking about this for a while.. did jesus diee on a cross?
does it really matter?
it doesn't change anything that i can see.. is god a trinity?
it does if you want accurate knowledge of Jesus Christ and the church to him that he paid with his own blood.
so, today i went to a different church than the jw's for the first time in over three years.. it is a protestant african church.
my first thoughts: for people who are 'trapped in babylon the great (according to watchtower) these people really seem genuingly happy and sincere in their adoration for god.
what a freedom compared to the witnesses!
People from other Christian churches won't hate you if you stop attending...so that's kinda a big diff, no?
so a user named "the-question" said the jw's were right about 607 bce.. this is your chance brother to prove us all wrong.. we all can't wait to hear from you :).
The onus of proof is on the one that wants to show JW that 607 is not historical. I believe that it is. There are other beliefs that it ain't -but no solid proof.
I disagree. The onus is on the WTS to prove that they are correct [could be a first..lol]. The WTS puts much of it's doctrinal faith of being in the end times in the assertion of being accurate with timing of the fall of Jerusalem [of course, not so much when predicting the demise of humanity hello 1917, 1919, 1924, 1933, etc etc]
i truly don't understand the mindset of a troll.
i know it's been explained, but i still don't get it.
it is hard to distinguish between a troll and a jw apologist at times because the reactions are very similar.
On this site, it is the JW mindset. It is so strong, it really is a shame that the energy used by trolls is not \used to let go of their ego just a little bit. Show a troll [or JW apologist] direct and explicit proof refuting their claims [what ever it is] and they will agree until they get away from reality.
My brother [uber elder] acknowledges the origins of the name Jehovah and acknowledges that in the OT the prophesy of the savior is God in the flesh. Then, give him some time away and he'll be regurgitating the same old BS.
What a shame.......
It's called reality, but believing JWs very actively avoid reality.
The Truth Will Set You Free
the most ridiculous of all dogmas anywhere in the universe is the very foundation of churchianity.....thus, all their other claims are just blah, blah!.
.
Yes, a grotesque 3 headed monster God is laughable.
Then again, the Hebrew scriptures explicitly indicate that God is more than a singular entity.
Every time that the OT references the 'oneness' of God, it is with the plural one. I know, you're thinking 'Hey, The Truth Will Set You Free, what are you talking about? You make no sense at all. How can there be a plural one?'
In Hebrew there are 2 words for one. There is the singular one and there is a plural one. Yachid and Echad.
The singular one is self explanatory, the plural one is the combination of things to create 'one'. You could say that a congregation is a plural one as all members of the congregation make up a plural one.
Direct scriptural examples include references to 'man and women became one [plural one] flesh' 'night and day became one [plural one] day' and 'hear o Israel that the Lord your God is one [plural one] God'
So, in the Hebrew scriptures is explicit evidence of the plurality of God. If we look at IS 9;6 we see that Jesus IS God, so how could he be God as a child and still have a God running the universe?
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Answer- One [plural] God
Not explaining the mystery of the Trinity, just stating that the scriptures agree with the possibility of the concept.

Sounds like you really researched the facts behind these false teachings.....NOT

I was never a JW. My brother converted to the JWs and tried to convert his siblings and family. I had only Catholic, Baptist and Presbyterian examples to compare. All were semi-similiar in their worship of God AND Jesus. One thing that I had noticed while attending JW services is the complete lack of actual worship of God.
A brief prayer and then talking and not worshiping. If I am wrong, please correct me.
I even attended my brother's baptism into JW world and still found little actual prayer. So I could see that worship would be a big difference that one would experience while attending another, more mainstream Christian faith.
so was jesus a fool or a liar?
he said that his church would last all ages, didn't he?.
math 16:8and i say to thee: that thou art peter; and upon this rock i will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
It was more of a point indicating that the church Jesus started was HIS church. Not a church to Jehovah. ALSO that members of the Christian church are witnesses of Jesus, not Jehovah. Hence the question
How Can The WTS cal themselves Christians in light of these truths?
so was jesus a fool or a liar?
he said that his church would last all ages, didn't he?.
math 16:8and i say to thee: that thou art peter; and upon this rock i will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Jesus specified about HIS church and those of HIS church are HIS witnesses. Doesn't that mean something to people who claim to be Christians?

he said that his church would last all ages, didn't he?.

MATH 16:8
And I say to thee: That thou art Peter; and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
Acts 20:28
Keep watch over yourselves and the entire flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which He purchased with His own blood.
