JWs & "generations"

we all know what a mess the jw "generation" teachings have been.

but, there is one hard and fast truth concerning jws and "generations" - that is, that many generations of jws have died without the realization of the hope they were promised.. there were many before my grandfather's time, but i'm going to start with his.

his generation, his peers, lived at a time when jwdom was exciting, bold, confident, seemingly deeper and scholarly, seemingly genuinely concerned about the preaching work and saving lives.

Magnum- Good topic. It is awful that you have had so much wasted time in the ORG, but do not let your heart be sad. You figured it out. You were deceived because you had no choice. You're parents and grandparents were JWs. You were raised in it and never had a shot at truth.

My brother is like your grandfather, his kids are like your mother and his grandkids are like you. He will [has] bring them up believing that they are more special than everyone else, but will get very upset when confronted with facts about reality. Really? You wont die? Millions living now will never die?

What to do now is a bigger question. Live a life well lived. Enjoy the wonder of creation and thank God for the obvious things like family, friends, health, mobility and life. Also thank God for the bad things and troubles. How would you know to be thankful for the good things if you didn't have bad things to contrast the good things against? The WTS will go on, but without you....and that's good

What makes the WTS different from the other 39,999 christian sects that actively protests the Catholic church?

Isn't the WTS just another protestant church?

They all say they interpret the bible as God intended, but did God or Jesus ever command anyone to write down scriptures and then follow them?

No, Jesus commissioned the apostles to go forth to all nations baptizing in the name of the Father, the Son and Holy Ghost AND to do ALL that he had told them to do. Not some of what he told them to do

Has the Governing Body ever been right?

i asked this question to a relative after mentioning several situations where teachings were changed or readjusted (new light) and they have two reasons.

yes, they are correct because look at how the preaching work has grown through the decades and the advancements in witnessing and the second reason was the doctrine of the trinity and how the society opposes that.

i didn’t really have a response, especially for the trinity doctrine.. does the governing body have the rejection of the trinity belief correct?.

John 1:1—a concept blindly copied from other cultures

john 1:1 is the adaptation from other cultures where it is taught that we are all gods.

if expanded, john 1:1 would read like this: “in the beginning there was only god and he created the universe out of himself.

that means you are made out of god and you are a part of god, hence you are god just as much as jesus was.

Interesting topic, generally speaking, about biblical stories copying older pagan beliefs. Many pagan communities were pagan, only to become closer to the divine. They knew [at least,] that there was more to know spiritually than they knew so they would try to gain a knowledge of divinity, but had not received these types of revelations. They could have stumbled upon or had been taught truths during their journeys.
