Better to stick to the bible, ALL of it. JWs are the only ones who do that. Using the divine name is also key.
It is my experiences that the JWs do very little of the bible. They do not do anything scriptural. They have a new testament of Jesus. A false new testament. How do we know? Look at their fruits. Really, look at the fruits. No one can name one JW fruit. Everything in JW doctrine is a copy of catholic teachings. Going door to door with a catholic book [the bible] telling everyone that Jehovah is God's true name [coined by a catholic monk] telling people that they are the biblical authority in prophesy and meaning [with a history of less than 200 years] What are the fruits? If it is from God, there would be fruits.
What's the JW alternative? Try a church has real fruits that have helped billions and billions and billions. Jws have works that have no fruits. NAME A FRUIT, JUST ONE GOOD FRUIT FROM JWs please. -

I'm with you cha ching.
Lying...not just lying to those they feel are unworthy for the truth, but they lie to everyone. They must lie because their history is so very limited, but to have a policy [either officially known as 'theocratic warfare', or unofficially as] 'lying for the Truth' is nothing short of disgraceful.
How? How does a person stay with such an organization that promotes such policy and then has the stones to call itself 'the truth'?

How credible are NWT's critiques?: Allin and John 8:58. (2)
by Wonderment inhow credible are nwt's critiques?
: allin and john 8:58.a few weeks ago we had a discussion surrounding john 8.58. the posters in this forum offered various views in regards to jesus' divine role in scripture.
occasionally, some scholars publish articles where they voice their opinion against the nwt theological renderings.

Hello McFLy?
All of this study and work to prove or disprove grammatical wording and translating of a word or a phrase to disprove that Christ claimed to be God.
These arguments are null and voided out by the facts that those around Jesus wanted to kill him for blasphemy.
That valid point seems to be lost on those who promote 'I have been' instead of 'I am' .
Jesus was in danger of being killed on more than one occasion for the blasphemy of claiming equality with God. Note that he never once tried to correct the crowd to say he was misunderstood.
Of course, common sense will not prevail with the JW apologist

Is the Watchtower Society following in the footsteps of the Catholic Church?
by Esse quam videri inmany members of this forum speculate that the lawsuits faced by the watchtower society are leading to its demise or at least putting incredible pressure on its ability to function as it has in the past.
the reports from wt and awake articles regarding the catholic church give credence to these members arguments.. note: comments by the society often have them taking the moral 'high ground'.
examination of the australian royal commission testimony and findings would leave any 'thinking person' shaking their head in disbelief.

Fair question. The WTS does send people door to door with a catholic book [the bible].
And they are promoting the name which was coined by a catholic monk an eon ago {Jehovah}
And say that they are the true heirs of these things.
I guess that's what must be done when your history spans 1/10 of the catholic church.
just saying,,,cause it's true

Former brother, What was the Christian alternative for the first centuries before the bible was compiled?
What was the alternative for Christianity for the 1850 plus years before the cult of WTS?
The bigger question is WHAT FRUITS HAS THE WTS GIVEN TO THE WORLD OR EVEN CHRISTIANITY?
Just asking

If all the world were JWs....
by Tornintwo inin my former indoctrinated state, i used to yearn for a time when all the world would be jws.
but hang on minute, let's just think about what the world would be like if everyone was a jw,.
first of all, no higher education, so no medical advances, no scientific research, no modern day medicine, infectious disease rife, no doctors, no engineers, so no modern day comforts.

No one would have a hospital, a school, or any charity towards other folks who needed help.

Do get the real feel of the early Christian Church you could [should] consult the church fathers and their writings. That is the real deal on what the early church was all about. It's important to remember that the bible followed the church [like 350 years later], the church didn't follow the bible [like it does for so many later Christian orgs]. Below is a copied/pasted article on a few early church fathers from Wikipedia. Notice that their writings are still preserved and available.
Sorry, no comment on the dead sea scrolls
Clement of Rome[edit]
Main article: Clement of RomeHis epistle, 1 Clement (c. 96),[5] was copied and widely read in the Early Church.[6] Clement calls on the Christians of Corinth to maintain harmony and order.[5] It is the earliest Christian epistle aside from the New Testament.
Ignatius of Antioch[edit]
Main article: Ignatius of AntiochIgnatius of Antioch (also known as Theophorus) (c. 35–110)[7] was the third bishop or Patriarch of Antioch and a student of the Apostle John. En route to his martyrdom in Rome, Ignatius wrote a series of letters which have been preserved. Important topics addressed in these letters include ecclesiology, the sacraments, the role of bishops, and theIncarnation of Christ.[8] He is the second after Clement to mention Paul's epistles.[5]
Polycarp of Smyrna[edit]
Main article: Polycarp of SmyrnaPolycarp of Smyrna (c. 69 – c. 155) was a Christian bishop of Smyrna (now İzmir in Turkey). It is recorded that he had been a disciple of "John." The options for this John areJohn, the son of Zebedee, traditionally viewed as the author of the Gospel of John, or John the Presbyter.[9] Traditional advocates follow Eusebius in insisting that the apostolic connection of Polycarp was with John the Evangelist, and that he was the author of the Gospel of John, and thus the Apostle John.

The WTS does not meet the criteria for the world record of flip flops. WT Sept 1932
We can say with certainty that the WTS would make the world record for flip flops. WT June 1975
The WTS would not ever meet the standards for the record for flip flops. WT May 1999
