JW Parents in bad shape with no retirement.

my wife's parents are in very bad shape.

they are both 2nd gen jws.

my father in law worked for a large american manufacturing company in the 60s and early 70s.

Whenever I ask my uber elder brother about any elderly brothers and sisters from his cong [or former congs] he ALWAYS tells me that they are not doing well. Health, financial and mental problems always an issue for most rank and file elderly JWs.

My reply is that HE will be among them as he ages and he will realize that HE is going to die. No getting around that one. He will not see the big A, although I have no idea when the big A is coming, I have millions of years of history to look back on. The same history that proves the WTS as a false prophet promoting it's own end.

No fruits, only works [going door to door restoring the name Jehovah] that produce no fruits what so ever.

Sorry, not trying to kill this thread, it's just that damn! WTF?

I was told by an elder many years ago that I should invest in the 401k plan on my first job that had one. I said, "Isn't the end so near that we won't be needing a retirement savings?" He said, "You need to save for retirement just in case the paradise is way off in the distant future ." He's still in but he's too old to have elder duties anymore

Sounds like this old elder guy realized that the booklet "Millions of people living now will never die" had a magazine cover picture of dead people. Everyone on that mag cover died.

NWT 1984 vs NWT 2013

i recently had a discussion with a jw concerning a change in wording of a scripture - in fact this was my all time favourite scripture, namely, micah 6:8.. my view is that the wtbts have deliberately changed the wording and meaning of the said scripture.

the other person is of the opinion that that is not the case.

How to deal with struggling with the doctrines

this is my first post.

i'm still a jw but am inactive.

im struggling with the fact that i agree with some of the doctrines (i,e, the stance on the trinity, there is no hell) but i disagree with a lot of things (i,e, men can't have beards, women have to wear skirts).

Welcome. Lots of emotion will come with your journey. You'll be mad about how you were lied to, but you'll be grateful for the chance to research without the WTS colored glasses.

It was helpful to me to acknowledge that the fruits of the WTS were not there.

Restoring Gods name and going door to door are not fruits, they're works. And it's works that bear no fruit. That fact helped me unplug

Jesus never wrote or instructed anyone to write these things down. No instruction or reference to writing new scriptures. The NT scriptures came after Christianity was spread orally.The bible is/was a Catholic book which they wrote. It's odd to me that a faith would base itself on a fruit of the Catholic Church while it calls that same Church corrupted by Satan.

I always find it quite fascinating to hear JWs [as well as any other christian] bashing the Catholic Church.

Where do we get the idea that the bible is the word of God? Answer; Catholic Church

Who gave the world the word of God? Answer ; Catholic Church

Who gave the world [the whole world] hospitals, universities, orphanages, mental health institutions, food banks, shelters [homeless, battered or other]? Answer ; Catholic Church

And the reward for such noble and honorable fruits ? Jws...hahahhaaha

they go door to door restoring Gods name. How can anyone keep a strait face while trying to compare?
