Apparently he no longer is our savior and the "way and the truth and the life" or our mediator between god and man . the governing body took over that role.

For those who don't get it, in the talk when they listed his attributes these were never brought up

Does't surprise me. Every cult leader (or leadership) typically evolve from messenger of the deity, to designated exclusive leader from the deity, to sole representative of the deity, to being the deity.

This must have been a special talk for the public, otherwise why would they even mention Jesus. I thought they rejected him years ago.

It was an intro into the Memorial next week . I heard the British video ( reluctantly )

It was done by a British Witness and came over better than the American ones that we are used to. Don't ask me what he said in detail, I was not giving it that much attention , but I am sure there were no new points.

When my husband returned from this special talk, I asked him what was discussed. He surprised me with a detailed recap ( not usual for him) I asked what about the giving nature of Jesus, giving to those in need, like the loaves and fishes, and producing wine for the wedding. He looked funny and said no, that wasn't mentioned. I looked surprised and said, but Jesus gave of himself to others all the time, and he gave his life for all that believe in him, to be forgiven from sin. Also, "those who believe in me will have everlasting life" . He looked annoyed with me . ;-)

He kept interjecting how Jesus was not God, like he had to make this point, even when it was random, he would interject it. hmm I just couldn't help myself by asking why was Jesus allowing himself to be worshiped if he was not God. He said he wasn't, I told him it is in the Bible that he was. I asked him if he was more powerful than than Satan, he said of course. I asked him if Jesus was more powerful than the Governing Body, he said " of course" ( annoyed at me by now) I asked if God was more powerful than Satan, he said of course. I asked if God intervened in this world, then he got uncomfortable and walked away not wanting to talk anymore. Then I dropped it and later put together a word document that only I will read, I am sure, of the examples of worship of Jesus.

In his recap of the special talk, he kept saying how it was important to get to know Jesus, I asked him how to do that. He was a bit flustered and said by learning about him. ( typical circle conversation. )

I asked if he stayed for the WT study, and he didn't. I told him I found it on youtube. ( I offered to do this for him in the morning when he thought he had missed the special talk) and that the WT study surprised me from what he had told me about the WT never asking for money, because the whole thing was about giving money/ valuables. He said "no way", then said he would ask him Mom about it. I told him I found it on youtube if he was interested in seeing it. Then the subject was dropped.

We'll see if he ever asks about that youtube.

    Hi nonjwspouse,

That's a great question: "Why was Jesus allowing himself to be worshiped if he was not God?"

Answer would surprise everyone because he is not interested in the silly debates of humans on earth.

What I like the most about God also is the same thing--He is not bothered about the honor or dishonor people shower upon Him because He doesn't gain anything by honor and he doesn't lose anything by dishonor. In other words, His attitude is that 'let people think of me whatever they like.' When I adopt this attitude, I feel instant freedom.

Pastor Russell taught thst Jesus was entitled to real worship. The WTS was founded for the purpose of worshiping Father and Son.

This changed in 1954 because JWs were rightly accused of worshiping 2 God's - a big one and a little one.
