I COULDN'T DO IT!!!!

i know i just posted a few hours ago- but need to vent.

my mom was at the district convention last weekend.

i had found this site shortly before she went.

Dang, Perfection Seeker! Are we related???? My grandmother used that 'my brain needed a good washing' line! I almost puked! I just want to reiterate everything that everyone else is saying. REFUSE to discuss religion with them. At least for now. Their guilt is still too fresh in your mind. I've been out for 5 years and only eight months ago I finally told them that I attend church services. My grandmother called me a devil worshipper. Five years ago, I would have cried for days if she said that. I laughed at her. My sister visited my house from out of town, and ran back out the door in under ten minutes when my children started singing Christmas carols. It was funny as heck, although my kids (three and four) didn't understand why auntie didn't stay very long, and why she didn't like their singing. Hang in there....and get some counseling. Most of us need it when we leave!

Why don't you just leave?

many still inside facing all the wrongdoings and still go on to the meetings, keep preaching the good news from door-to door and all the duties of the normal jv lives.

are you one of those - or were - that for a long time, what really what made you stay even coming to the point of no-believe in the chronology and the gb?

there were at time of facing the truth of the truth.

I didn't just leave either. I was a 3rd gen JW, too, and I don't have any immediate family that are non-JWs. I had absolutely nobody outside the org. I stopped attending the meetings first, but I went to the assemblies. I always made up excuses about my work schedule (I was a letter carrier for the post office). The last assembly I attended, I had a ten month old baby. People looked at me funny, but I hadn't been disfellowshipped, so they still spoke to me and held my baby. The last memorial I went to I almost walked out when the elder prayed 'Jehovah, please guard everyone against independent thinking' That was the straw that broke the camel's back. I didn't cut off my JW ties until I joined a church, and had a whole new group of friends. I also married my daughter's father, which was a HUGE help. I still lived a double life, though, up until about eight months ago. I'd been going to church for four years, and my family didn't know. I finally told them, so now I don't care who knows I'm out! It was a process, though.

I was just chatting with another X-JW about you guys. Well, she's almost an X-JW. I went to Coventry with you guys. B, you were about to go to Bethel when my family came to Coventry. I used to go to meetings for field service at your house. I know that both of you are out, and I'd love to hear from you. Here's some hints about me: I was very close to the Baker clan (at least I thought I was!) Your baby brother is good friends with one of my siblings.

i have pasted the relevant part about molestors here.. i'm suprised by the over-all dumbing-down of the offenses and particularly astonished by expressions such as "struggle to avoid repeating his sin" while it admits that "experience has shown that such an adult may well molest other children".. http://www.watchtower.org/library/w/1997/1/1/article_01.htm.

And the congregation cannot read hearts to tell who is and who is not liable to molest children again.

Really? So NOW the Elders can't read hearts???? How can they tell who is repentant and who is not? I thought that the Holy Spirit guided them in such matters. They're admitting to being in the dark.

But nowhere does the Bible say that an adult Christian who sexually abuses a child—whether incestuously or otherwise—cannot be forgiven.

The bible may offer forgiveness for this person's repentant soul, but that does not mean that there are not consequences for the crime. 'Whatever a man is sowing, this he must also reap.' Sliding things conveniently under the rug is not forgiveness.

Children are much easier to deceive, confuse, or terrorize. The Bible speaks of a child's lack of wisdom. (Proverbs 22:15; 1 Corinthians 13:11) Jesus used children as an example of humble innocence. (Matthew 18:4; Luke 18:16, 17) The innocence of a child includes a complete lack of experience. Most children are open, eager to please, and thus vulnerable to abuse by a scheming adult whom they know and trust. Therefore, the congregation has a responsibility before Jehovah to protect its children.

So tell me why in the heck, The Borg tries to get children to accept baptism into their cult as early as possible. They lack wisdom on how to avoid child molesters, but are able to make a decision like choosing to be a lifetime member of a cult? How about using scare tactics on children, telling them that they'll die at Armageddon. Is that not also abuse?

That's my 2 cents. I'm out.

ANOINTED JEHOVAH WITNESS APOLOGIZES

dear people, i posted my first post on anointed witness has no doubt stating that i have the heavenly hope and was seeking others.

many of you responded and i read all your replies.

i am lonely in terms of knowing few other young anointed and being an active witness, so this makes me an oddity among you and in my cong.. mnay also wondered why i was on this website of ex-witness,.

My mom used to say that she was anointed. She had just been diagnosed with Paranoid Schizophrenia and had a nervous breakdown. That's not saying anything about you, lotus, just another example for the opposing side.

i would just like to thank everyone for the excellent posts that have appeared here on this site.

i esp would like to thank simon for making this possible.

i sincerely believe that the "net thang" will continue to play a role in helping jw who are sincerely searching for a confirmation that all their doubts and wondering over the years was not the result of them being spiritually weak.

QUICKBOOKS PRO - any users????

howdy ---- i'm stumped.

i've been using quickbooks 99 since 99 - updated about a month ago to 02.. got a payroll question, about paying my liabilities - i've been sitting here for 2 friggin' hours trying to figure it out.....and i'll bet it's so damned obvious to *someone else.

Would you kiss up to your boss to get ahead?

this is a question, that i am very curious about, wondering or pondering, thinking if some people would kiss up to their bosses to get ahead in the company that they were employed in; to get a raise, or a promotion, and then i'm thinking of the 'special treatment' clause if you had a personally relationship w/ your supervisor?

i guess w/ my present day situation the thought has crossed my mind, and i can't help but wonder this...if one particular person is "using" me to advance his career.

this is a jw issue, cuz this person is a jw.

I've actually gotten ahead at my workplace for doing exactly the opposite of kissing up. Since I've been at my corporation I have more than doubled my salary by working hard and not taking any crap from anybody! I let my bosses know exactly what's on my mind, in a professional manner, and they respect me. Merit is still rewarded by some. I won't work for someone who requires kissing up.

Losing religion....Finding God

i've given alot of thought to this subject, myself.

i used to blame god for my horrible childhood, and i know alot of people that blame the devil for bad things that are clearly the result of something that they did themselves.

i do believe in the supernatural, unexplained events that go on in this world.

LOL at Lisa! I understand completely. I shouldn't be complaining. I'm one of those people that skim over posts that have more than a couple of paragraphs. Lately, though, I've been reading even some of the intellectual posters like Farkel and AlanF and some of the prolific posters like Flower. Maybe they're wearing off on me.

True, the bible gives examples of God punishing people for disobedience. If we love God, we will obey him. In the bible, Jesus says that the two greatest commandments are to love God with all our hearts and to love your neighbor. As far as every little law and ordinance of these religions out here...Well, I love God with all my heart and I try to love my neighbors! Religion is not relationship. Alot of religions, not just JWs are messing up the relationship part for people.

BTW, I do put the barbie heads back on for my daughter! When I get to it.
