firstly let tell you a little about myself, i have been totally involved with the society since 1967, and a pioneer for many years, giving 100 hours each month, service to my god.

i was concerned when i read your watchtower of june 15th 2009, where it finally admitted the governing body represents the faithful and discreet slave class.

Thats why you have to test the spirits old bean, if we fall for every suggestion of Holy spirit we end up dissapointed and cynical. That's why when the two nice ladies ladies called at our doors instead of testing the spirits we dicided to put our brains away and stop thinking for ourselves, as no doubt those ladies had done years before.

Fool me once shame on you fool me twice shame on me as the saying goes. The Holy Spirit is never ambiguous only our perception of its direction. Thats why speculation, conjecture and debate is healthy, it is only when we start becoming dogmatic like saying the Holy Spirit has directed me to do this or that and you have got to believe in that direction I have been given, or you can't be friends with me any more.

If we feel moved by the Holy Spirit we have to recognise the possibility that it could only be speculation and people have the right to choose to be doubtful of it. But we should never assume that the Holy Spirit is not working on a person. Christian freedom is wonderful.

And that is what cults take away from people, that is having the Holy Spirit dwell within you, freedom of choice, and if you don't believe in us you just as well be an athiest, which plays right into their hands.

Hi bible brain All very interesting, I fear you are suggesting we follow the same channel but just another branch , we have already had our imaginations stretched to the limit, I hope this is just speculation on your part. Any serious and experienced Bible student particularly ex JWs have had quite enough of false predictions and date setting.

The watchtower organisation is not connected to any prophetic prophecies other than what Jesus said about guarding against false prophets. Matthew 24 v 4 7& 5 . The leadership at Jerusalem i.e. the older men and apostles were not a governing body and each congregation was autonomous, as you have said every annointed Christian has the means to be guided by the Holy Spirit as individuals.

The watchtower organisation didn't have a recognised governing body until the 1980's and then that came about under much dispute. As far as the faithful and discreet slave is concerned it isn't subject to a select few but is given to all who ask for his spirit. Stop thinking watchtower. None of us who have been struck by the watchtower tetsy fly want to be lulled into another coma. The question you need to ask yourself 'who are the annointed Christians today' ? or rather the faithful servant, as a man of long Bible experience and one that has identified grave errors in the watchtower doctrine I am surprised that the Holy Spirit has not revealed to you that all Christians today can be called faithful servants and are all the body of Christ, following any man or organisation misses the point. It is Christ we follow directly Matthew 10 v 7-9.

Finally! We bought a house...

some of you may remember the drama we have had first trying to buy land, then an old community hall.

both didn't work out.... well to day we signed our mortgage papers at the bank!

it has been 4 weeks since we signed a contract and it took till today to finalize it...banks sure do drag the chain!.

hello everyone, my name is bob and i am a recovering jehovah's witness.

i have a beautiful wife and four equally beautiful children.

my major malfunction is that i am very much a believer and as most here would agree, some major teachings do not line up in harmony with scripture.. god used the help of a pastor friend of mine and together we were able to show my wife from the bible certain biblical truths do not line up with "the truth".

Another thread to my story

this is a story that is very hard for me to tell.

as a matter of fact, this is really one of the only times i've told this story.

a few years back, i met a girl while at the local community college.

I am so sorry for this terrible tragic loss you suffered. The pain and the grief must have been unbearable, only time can heal the grief and pain. Be comforted by her sisters words when you tried to blame yourself. Her sister knew how deep the depression went. You were not to blame.

She was in such a state of depression that she misjudged you and thought you didn't care. If she had been well as oz said she would probably have shrugged it off. So don't keep blaming yourself you were a victim of circumstances as so many on here are. I am so glad you came here and told us your story so we can share this with you. There is so much support here, so don't stop talking to us about how you are feeling.

for they, alone, have apparently been able to do for some what no other religion, teaching, philosophy, belief, or faith, was able to do: turn some completely away from the most holy one of israel, jah of armies.

may you all have peace.... of course, such ones may want to attribute their "change of heart" to something they call "atheism", but that really isn't the truth.

atheism didn't call them; atheism was simply the final "oasis" to which they fled when the wtbts proved itself to be a "waterless region"... a wasteland... desolate.

What's the biggest lie/rumor that has ever been told about YOU?

most of us here know what a hypocritical, backstabbing bunch of gossips many of the jw's tend to be.

far too often, a jw wont tell you to your face what's eating them, but they'll sure tell others.

when i started waking up (the second time around) this made me very paranoid.

To Q. I am glad you found your peace but as regard to ratting out your fellow brothers and sisters might imply that they have done something which might merit disciplinary action from the JW's point of view, however the point I was really trying to make it is the unproven slander and particularly the untrue slander that has destroyed lives. [ The creating of something that is'nt there] or putting two together and making six, through whatever motive they have for doing so.

I am not suggesting for one ,moment that this is unique to JW's or to any other religious faith or society in general and neither am I talking about just the general imperfection of individuals and a slip of the tongue I am talking about a people who believe that they are in the most moral and respectable and righteous organisation in the whole world who are the perpetrators 'James 3 v 6 -7 The tongue is also a fire, a world of evil among the parts of the body. It corrupts the whole person, sets the whole course of his life on fire, and is self set on fire by hell. All kinds of animals, birds , reptiles, and creatures of the sea are being tamed and have been tamed by man, but no man can tame the tongue. It is a restless evil full of deadly poison. ' NIV.

I don't think James is suggesting that we make excuses for our behaviour just due to imperfection, but carries on in verse 9&10 ' With the tongue we praise our Lord and father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in Gods likeness. Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. The point made is this 'MY BROTHERS THIS SHOULD NOT BE' NIV.

Thank you Vampire for your reply we can all look back and laugh at the silly things that have happened to us and misunderstandings. Even have a laugh at the silly procedures that have been implemented by the GB re dress codes do's and dont's etc. inconsistant traditions of each local congregations.

But for many it can be a very sensitive matter when the subject of gossip and slander is brought up, which has ruined hard earned reputations building up a respectable name with friends and neighbours, to have it falsely slandered and character assassinated when people have invested so much in what they thought was the truth. The irony of it being that so called fellow christian friends are so easily willing to believe any form of gossip or slander dispite any long standing relationship they may have with them.

The even greater irony of it all is the watchtower and awake magazines have consistantly and proudly highlighted in the articles to discourage idle gossipe and vindictive slander but the greatest irony of it all is that the biggest perpetrators of this is elders their wives their children and the GB and their cronies. Had me rant.
