ex wants to be free to remarry - ugh
by No Apologies inok, i'm sure i am not the first one to be in this predicament but it sure is a headache, my jw ex called a few days ago, apparently she has met someone (they're not dating of course!
) and she wants to me to hand over the golden ticket.
she wants confirmation either in writing or verbally to a third party, that she is "scripturally free" to remarry.. i have managed for years now to avoid any judicial action and my jw family members still associate with me, but that all could come to a screeching halt if i give her what she wants.. the only bright side is she totally robbed me on the divorce; if she gets married i am at least off the hook for "spousal maintenance", that would mean potentially thousands of dollars in my pocket.... .

Wait, get her on tape, or writing saying that, and you just may be able to have an atty. overturn the spousal payments, I'm not sure on what grounds yet, but....

FHN, theyr'e divorced. It's not "letting her go" It's the real grown up world and none of her fuckin' bisness. She's getting paid by him to basically not get married, and if another guy can take care of this poor helpless woman and wants too, she's screwing him and her ex over far more by following stupid rules than the ex is by not giving her a letter. She needs to put on her big girl panties and make these decisions for herself. Why should the ex risk his family and friends and she should get off scott free? I do admire your empathy and compassion, however. And your always unique perspective.

All of this "this guy was this color, etc." stuff is just divisive hooey. I don't care if JC was black, white, or plaid. He had some good stuff to say, and like several others, when he said "Be nice" they killed him. We should be examining peoples motives to kill those who say "be nice" (Ghandi, MLK, Rabin, RFK, etc, etc,) far more than the amt. of melanin they carry.
