OMG...I got into my husbands truck the other day and lo and behold, he had taken the mags to be nice.
Now I just about puked when I saw then and took them right to the garbage can.
I hope they don't come back, but I know they will since he took the mags. I will make sure he remembers the word 'apostate' or tells them his wife is a witch and reads tarot cards! LOL

That was not a common rumor in my area (FL) . I had never heard of this.
I did not leave until the late 90s and I don't rember this being the case...That Ray actually started the 1975 rumor and got kicked out for that. I had heard that he was just apostate.
The JW at the door acted like Ray was the one who made up the whole thing and got kicked our for it. I have never heard it 'spun' this way.

Hubby told him about my background and why I left. He told the JW that the biggest problem I had with it was all the changes over the years and the big A.
So this guy actually ADMITS that this mistake of 1975 was actually published (and this is where the good part starts) but that the GB members that were responsible for this fiasco were kicked out of Bethel because of this mistake. WTF?????
Hubby continued to challenged the W and go toe to toe with him all the time trying to remember the word I told him to use if the JWs ever come around. For the life of him he could not remember the work APOSTATE! LOL
He told me to write it on a sticky note and put inside of door so he could refer to it next time they came!
for several years now i have been using many natural plants to reach altered states of consciousness, one of my hopes was to start up my kundalini energy at the bass of my spine and up thru the various chakras, i think i have accomplished it but have no idea of where it ends, but it is somewhere out of cultural programing and beyond!.
anyway i quit pot for a while because my eyes would keep rolling up in the back of my head and i think my kundalini energy was only reaching up to my heart chakra and i would get blow away with compassion for suffering things animals, trees, people it really cut me down and zapped my energy,,so i quit for a couple months, and just started again very recently,, right now i don't get the eyes rolling back in the head thank god it is so embarrassing.. i think it may have been caused by really good yoppo i bought on ebay from yugoslavia or what ever one of those countries cheap but potent.
i was having the most powerful dreams even for weeks after relived memories coming out of nowhere all the time..

Wanted more Freedom; Had issues dealing with being told I did not have an immortal soul; Left because of the people (saw too much hypocrisy, too much gossip); Depressed, Didn’t feel like doing all the things required of you, felt oppressed by the rules; Was abused emotionally by someone in the hall and it was covered up; Felt the Society had no place in sexual relations with married folks; Called a whore in a JC meeting.

ok before i start i know my mum was um "special" and had some, well...... bizzare training ideas.. .
i was one of 7 kids, dad didnt help much coz he was sick, so my mum was left to run the 'ship' and she did it with an iron fist.. .
we were never late for a meeting we sat, parents and 2 kids in one row the other 5 in row in front.
THis brought up a memory of a time when I was about 10 years old. I had been spending the day with another witness family that had girls close to my age.One of the girls had written somehing very small letters on the back of their bedroom door.
The mother went ballistic and neither of the girls owned up to it. She made them strip naked and stand in front of the rest of the family (me included) while she took a belt and whipped them until one of the admitted the deed. I remember that the mother was suspicious of me as well but for some reason I have blocked out if I was punished.
How humiliating for these young girs (one was hitting puberty) to be whipped naked in front of others! I remember not being allowed to go over there anymore and those poor girls could never look me in the eye again. This must have been the norm in their house or something.
I have never witnessed anything so horrific since then.

i have felt guilty about that for so many years.
It is so hard for me to relate to God of religion. Forget about prayer; I couldn't even pray as a child. I had so many questions that no one would answer and being a JW NEVER felt right. I wanted to fit in and be accepted anywhere, that is why i would keep going back.

I have to say that I have no place in my heart for GOD (but I do appreciate the concept of a Creator) and that prayer is impossible. I have felt guilty about that for so many years. I see that many of you have drawn closer to God through other religions. But I have not seen anything from people who have a totally different belief, such as Buddhism.
I feel that I may not be welcome here if I have other ideas (that are not based in Christianity). One of the biggest issues/questions that tormented me since childhood is the teaching of not have a soul. Is that teaching still a big no-no with ex-JWs?
Also, I grew up in S. Florida and would be interested in making contact with anyone that I may have known.
I appreciate any and all comments!

I am 4th generation ex-JW with family members at Bethel, doing missionary work, and pioneering. Even though I have been out for almost 20+ years, I still had guilt admitting to myself that this was a cult-like organization until just recently. My mother, brother and I have been so traumatized by the elders in our old congregation that we had no trouble turning our back on the organization.
I have to admit that I have forgotten most things, but reading posts on this board has dredged so many memories back up for me. I am still angry that my family shuns me. My grandfather was congregation overseer, all uncles were elders and aunts and cousins pioneered. I was never good enough and felt like I couldn't live up to their standards. My great grandmother was of the annointed. I know that me, mom and my brother were an embarrassment to the family. Mom was widowed when we were very young. My father and my mom's best friend were df'd for adultery with each other. Then my died killed himself. When that happened, it was like the congregation blamed my mother and they turned their backs on us.
I can't write anymore right now, I am finding this too hard to relive. I have squashed my disgust and anger and I feel it coming back up.
