Besty: I am talking about Jook, not Porter. The difficulty in communicating in black and white, is that people fail to read all the postings made.

I resent being goaded by you or Jamie, when I have simply pointed that the UK law has, currently drawn a line. We all agree with the public outcry in this area (Bristol UK) where Mr Porter perpetrated his crimes. The shout is loud for the case to be heard again.

If you want to promote Anarchy Besty that is up to you. I am only interested in Jook's welfare.

If you are not careful you will stir up a hornets nest. We have not read the bundles, we do not know the case in full.. we must wait for the UK legal system to hear this again and maybe overturn the decision of the presiding judge.

Can I remind you that in Portsmouth, UK a consultant Paediatrician was almost mobbed and beaten as a group of mothers took to the streets as they thought a "Pedo" was amongst them.

The law has judged Mr Porter in this matter.

I agree with your analysis in almost every way.. but I do take exception at your broad brush strokes.

So, I assume all the points of view expressed here will now be directed to the Avon & Somerset Police and the Bristol CPS to press for reform?

Rather than suggest that we flout (UK) law Cantleave, perhaps we should press for change. At the moment, Mr Porter is at liberty.. all the "Authorities" agree on the matter. Are you above them?

I don't know if JWRB still exists but there is a sterling example of a group of Elders pushing for Reform and change.

Besty and Jamie you are wrong. If Mr Porter IS an active paedophile, he has the "law" on his side, and goading him on as you are doing is sick in its own right, and putting him and his family in danger. WAIT for the change in the judgment and the rule of law. That is the way to achieve permanent change and force issues. And praise, even small changes for the good in the minority groups amongst our populations.

Besty.. I did not come here to challenge your basis for wanting a massive change in WT world. I came here out of concern for Jook'. You can bare as much bad news as you like. The facts remain.

This case was heard 3 years ago, Jook has only just picked up on it.

It all happened within a few miles of where I live and now it has landed fully on Jook's doorstep.

There is public outcry over the decision rendered by the presiding judge, and the case is subject to protracted judicial review.

To cross the "legal" line at this stage would endanger Jook'. "What if" is a big supposition. We have to await the judicial review, and show all due dilligence in handling these matters.

I am sure Bill Bowen and others like yourself are contacting Avon & Somerset Police and the Bristol CPS, as we speak to speed up the rule of law. Anything outside this is Anarchy.

Again, I stress, I agree, much must be changed systemically to change the WT mindset in these matters. Or, would you be found pushing others to cross the legal line?

Wait Besty, things are in motion.. all will come out of the woodwork.. and if you are wise enough to know the law.. put your case forward with Bill Bowen and see this through to resolution.

All that I am saying is wait... whether on Jehovah or not... I believe the Truth will come out and their will be much gnashing of teeth in one quarter or another. Stick up for Jook'... don't use him as a stool pigeon Besty.. he is not up to speed. He admitted that at the first posting.

Neither have I read it Besty... but instead of invoking Anarchy why not commend the actions of my Dad (of whom I am very proud) to turn this ship around.

This is an individual case, it is up for review.. maybe all the worms will be winkled out of the can. You should be supporting our mutual friend Jook'.. any antagonism at this point would be seen as a disruption of the law as defined here in the UK. Our personal opinions are off the wall here.. and tinkering with the law of this land is not the way to approach it.

Please contact the addresses I have provided... I sense that Bill Bowen will have done so anyway. An earthquake does need to go through Watchtower Land, as indeed it does in all sectors of Society. How many "secular" trained Elders are there to comment.. Is the WT Society working in the background to firm up its policy.

I repeat, the Elders were praised for their co-operation with the Secular Authorities.. lessons are being learned.. I hope the WT goes from strength to strength in reform in many areas. That is why I am sitting here, that is why I am chipping in with you ... and that is why I maintain it would be absolute folly at this stage for Jook' to cross the legal line... even if WE don't agree with it.

David: I am not here to argue the semantics of law in the UK. I have said just about all I can on my own position. I note that noone has picked up on the fact that my own Father has applied the training he has received as a result of all this fracass.

As UK law stands, and until the case is re-tried (please God that it happens), Mr Porter has paid the penalty imposed and was dained to have been contrite and turned his life around. He walked free.

I have expressed my own views about him as an individual, perhaps I should not have done. The facts is that as a result, systems HAVE been put in place and are being actioned.

I don't condemn every Catholic because of past action of a perverted minority, so why should I condemn all JW's because systems and procedures were not in place in that arena either? Furthermore, given that Mr Porter is temporarily "Off the Hook".. how many times do I have to restate that I fear for Jook and his family if the current "Due process of Law" is not respected, and his own compound anxiety bubbles over in some way.

This is a heartfelt plea, because this case, I believe is about to explode... big time.

I have provided in my last comment two addresses for folks to refer to. If Silentlambs wants to give a loud shout, why not bombard Avon & Somerset Police and the Bristol CPS, and the legal buffs that hold the bundle.

Watch that space.. and may the "Truth" come out.

There is no need to be nasty, jamie.. that is not the point of my post. I AGREE with the observations Besty has made. I am not willing to accept Cantleave's offbeat comment about ignoring UK law.

I am sure the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) is still under pressure from the Public and various arms of the judiciary to bring this for re-trial.

Besty, since we are talking background here. I know that jook' knows you, we have spoken together on our mobiles and enjoyed putting the worlds to right. Equally I have issues with one of the names in your Rogue's Mall on the Branch Committee and was part of the Finchley congregation 1979-1982.

Due process of Law has been carried out... I have not read the legal Bundle have you, Besty? The CPS is usually savage in obtaining its convictions.. justice will prevail, if indeed an error of judgment has been made. Meanwhile, all the "experts" are of the opinion that this man is contrite and able to mingle in public places under watchful eye. Of course, it is read Besty, that he will not be allowed to wander alone and unaccompanied in any arena where children are involved. UK law cracked down heavily in this area after the Soham girls were murdered by that Caretaker Freak.

All that aside, I come back to my original concern for Juke' and his family... if the Predator does remain the threat that many here have judged him to be (and he may well be).. I would hate for Jook' to bring himself and his bairns into the limelight and sights of such evil scum. That is all.

Now, if anyone here wants to lodge a protest to the heart of this issue here are two addresses for you to write to. At the same time you might like to ask about the compliance of the JW Elders with the due process of law.. Satisfy yourselves on this case.. as I have.

PS: If you want to chew a bone on JW handling of another case here in Bristol look up the case of EUNICE SPRY. That case churned my stomach just as much, and it was brought before the Justices around the same time.

As I have said David: My concern is for Jook' and his family alone. The issues were flogged three years ago... I live on top of this smouldering bomb. The devestation caused by this Monster is on my doorstep.

The issue for me here is that he is now on Jook's patch and Jook is very sore over his treatment by the Local (Wimbledon) Elders. Why poke a stick in the wasp nest? SHUN the evil.. that is all I am saying.

As I understand it U.S State laws vary, and this has caused understandable rifts, because many States do not require Ministers to divulge such matters to the Public Justices. That is NOT the case in the United Kingdom. My Father, who remains an Elder to this day (appointed 1972) is absolute down the line on this issue. In fact, a young girl broke down in front of him when he called in field service and revealed that she was being sexually abused by her father. Dad followed the procedure he had been taught as an Elder and approached the appropriate authorities.

When thing come to light, or are confessed... how do you know Besty that Mr Porter did not conceal his perverted crimes, and that his confession to the Elders invoked this procedure?

Sorry, but I tend to think that a handful of badly managed cases are clouding the general picture of the procedures amongst JW congregations. I just don't want jook' to get hurt. He's a great guy with a wonderful little family.

Besty: California is a long way from Bristol, United Kingdom where I live. Would you like to tell me why you feel able to judge from such a distance... have you read our local press reports? have you sat in with local people, as I have, and discussed this issue first hand?? The JW's acted impeccably here, in accordance with the law, and brought the matter to the justices.

I live slap bang in the middle of this, the congregations affected by this screw ball are a spits distance away and I have at least one dozen local JW's on my patient listing...

My concern here is for jook'... my comments are made for his protections... this issue has been flogged to death, but jook' has only just got wind of it THREE years on. He lives central to where this pervert now attends JW meetings .. I fear he will bring attention to his loved ones from all quarters, especially unsavoury ones. Would those of you who do not live on top of this land mine stop goading and gloating and appreciate the potential danger he is in... these Pedos usually operate in rings in the UK.. like the two women and man who were recently busted for downloading kiddy porn of their own making. What if... is a short expression with a h**l of a lot of meaning. IF such a thing should happen, the systems SHOULD be in place to swoop in and action taken.

Call me old fashioned if you want Jook'.. I would have used pinking shears on his genitals and detatched them without the comfort of local anaesthetic.. and held a protracted "ethical" debate that lasted at least a decade. Meanwhile any other scum of this sort could walk around with tears in their eyes, cringing at what might happen if they were caught. There.. I've declared my hand.

I know where you are coming from.... but PLEASE you have a beautiful wife who has recently borne you a little nipper, you have peace at home.. even if there is anxiety on your doorstep, you will unleash something you admit you know little about. I think I have the fingers on the pulse a bit closer than most of you here jook'... you may unleash more than you have bargained for. YOU MUST look at each case individually.

It is up to the shepherds of ANY religious organisation to chaperone and keep a careful eye on those they know have such a sordid record. Don't you think that the legal/policing and psychotherapy systems have any sway in judgment of this case?

Recently, a man who had served his time for this very same crime joined a local Baptist church... many knew of the man's background and were cold and unforgiving towards him. A patient of mine related how, for a while, he was a warm and active member of their congregation... but the rejection was too much to bear and he "fell away". The ministers of that "flock" did little to encourage the man to repentance.

Who knows what murky waters lay beneath the calm seas in a congregation? Surely, if the shepherds are doing their job correctly, they will have their fingers on the pulse and be protecting the flock from the harm of predators of any sort.

Let us all be just a little careful that we are not whipping up hysteria... and end up tar and feathering others whom we assume are beyond redemption. Most of us here are rejects of some sort after all... n'est ce pas?
