  And equally.. Paul shows that much of mankind "sleeps" in death awaiting the resurrection as Our Lord deems fit.

  There is no perpetual bungy jump across the universe, but an orderly restoration of All things in Heaven and on Earth, and a resurrection with a purpose.

  WT doctrine is NOT constantly shifting Stephen, it has progressed and for the most part rejected false Hellenic/Chaldean influences that have corrupted the Judeo/Christian church of the first century. Agreed, there are areas of WT teaching that need revisiting.

  Their understanding of the Resurrection is however, much clearer than that of the Established Church. I urge you again, to read THE WHOLE of 1 Corinthians 15 and pray for the Holy Spirit to guide you as you do so. It is wonderfully revealing.

  Chalam: Stephen, Why do posters wade around like treacle in early teachings of a man? Every JW knows that the "Russellites" were a heady concoction of Adventism and several other Bible Student groups.... It started with what is patently farcical theology in parts... such was the revivalism of the late 1800's.

  My own WT exposure was approx. 1969 - 1984 during which I spent 4 years at Bethel and 6 years as a Regular Pioneer. Studying in library at Bethel, threw up much of this questionable teaching. I urge you to follow each thread and see how it was thrown out. Whereas, I agree with the retort that the "new light" often flickers.. (and I have my own reservations on current teachings).. the Bible is quite clear on the Resurrection of Jesus and Mankind in general.

  For that reason, I urge you to put aside jousting at WT and stick to the Bible itself. Please read, in several translations, 1 Corinthians 15.

  All will be revealed with the help of the Holy Spirit.

  in my case it was my best freind in the cong who decided to encourage me to answer up at the wt by... refusing to talk to me afterwards if i hadn't answered up!

  Being told by a Bethel Elder that my problem was that "I was all Heavenly and no Earthly good", followed up by an MS in front of the congregation saying "Stop spongeing off the rest of us and go get a proper job" So, I quit full time service.

  Final nail, met the D.O who promptly gave a talk to the congregation on the importance of having sufficient education to secure a job. That, from a trained Architect that would fall on his feet if he ever had to leave the District.

  Reminds me of the quote: "There are only two things I dislike about you darling".... "Oh..Really?".. "Yes, honey, YOUR FACE"

  I now have a BSc in a discipline allied to Medicine... after a great struggle.

  SMOKING

  due to health reasons (cost of a pack as well) i've gotta stop smoking....terry suggested smokless cigeretts.

  what's a good way to stop?

  i have managed to cut down to less than 10 a day, but have got to stop period.

  Quentin: I recommend TIME LINE THERAPY... Leaving WT was a great shock to my nervous system.. took up smoking and got hooked very quickly. I started a second business (turning an English Boozer into an "Eating" venue) my smoking increased rapidly.

  A client offered me TLT sessions... just two sessions.. and I quit September 21, 2005. Five years smoke free.

  Google it... In case you are worrying.. It in NOT hypnotherapy.. although the therapist did maintain there was an element in it. Personally, I can't see where.

  Any temptation now... I just close my eyes for a split second and the desire dispappears.

  Cost me £135 ($200 U.S ??)

  strange title, huh?.

  the point is that i wasn't "burned" in some incredible way by wts and i don't carry a huge chip on my shoulder from some incredible injustice from wts or the local elders.. i say this because some people have constantly accused me of being really screwed over by my experience because of my comments on others' threads.

  i explained myself there for my reasons, but wanted to repeat what those reasons are here in my own thread.. i explained on some post somewhere that i had felt that i experienced "divine intervention" in my life at one time and that same intervention ended my suicide attempt.

  I kissed my Father's hand this Sunday... the tubes were out of his nose.. the cannulas stuck in his bruised hand. He was 82 on September 4th and has been an Elder for 38years. He had refused blood and had had a total hip replacement two days prior to this.

  His heart faultered and we nearly lost him. I drove the 150 miles to see him and comforted my mother, who is 81, and has opposed him bitterly for 45 years.

  Like Tom and Jerry they can't live together... neither can they live apart. They held hands and they finally realised how much they meant to each other. I sat by his bedside and realised how much I had disappointed both of them. But, I am true to myself.

  It is not that I do not love.. my God.. my family. I just cannot see eye to eye with any religion or mind set that betrays the right of personal conscience.

  We nearly lost Dad, he may not have survived beyond Intensive Care. But, there he was as chirpy as a chipmunk, chatting up the nurses.. giving testimony to his faith.. the Surgical team and Staff were impressed. He is coming home today.. apart from the toilet seat needing a 1" raise, the Physio has sanctioned his discharge and he can't go out for 6 weeks. Mum is delighted that she won't be left lonely during these autumn/winter nights.

  He has been offered the meetings over telephone link. You can imagine her comments.

  I was never DF'ed, I wasn't abused, I never lost a loved one to the ban on blood.

  But I live in this constant emotional torture.

  The best way to put out a fire is.. to starve it of oxygen. Is the move of the Russian government a successful "wet blanket".. or will it fuel the fire with more oxygen.

  History has shown, time and time again, that the latter is true.

  Taking the Dutch model on Controlled Drug addiction as an example. If you control something, register and control both the drugs distributed and the distributors, you gain control. The issue falls into Apathy, the true addicts are controlled and medicated.. the curious dabble and walk away and the next generation finds it all too boring. It falls into the realm of Disease or Pest Control.

  Hope the analogy is not too veiled... but if you are "hooked" and harmless.. you can have your "fix" without harming others.

  Religion is the Opium of the People... (now who said that, then?)

  Thank god... what a fool. Thank you for your reassurances JWood.

  You know, I read an article in the British Press a few years ago. It was reporting the comments of the Chief of Police in Cairo, after the killing of many tourists visiting the pyramids. That wise man said:" These people are terrorists. They are neither Muslims or Jews, Christians or any other group. They are CRIMINALS... and as CRIMINALS they will be brought to justice." (sic.)

  Please take those comments to heart Darkside. Sue for Peace, at all times.

  Darkside.. that is an amazing comment. I am not American, and I just cannot believe you retain the same mental attitude as the JW subset you probably left. Kill the 99% of humanity because of the lunacy of 1%?? The only good German is a dead German, eh?.. the only good Muslim is a dead Muslim, eh?

  I am speechless at such ignorance. No wonder, even the rest of the Western world is holding America at arms length. That is incredible reasoning.

  Enquiry: Does anyone know if the Dove World Outreach Center is totally independent.. or is it one of the many schisms within the Born Again/Evangelical movement?

  If this church is completely independant then surely this Pastor is another Wakko from Waco?? If it is under the Evangelical Alliance... Does not that movement have a Governing Church Body or Council that has a spokesman? If it does why doesn't he/she come forward as have men and women of faith in other religious groups and speak out about the lunacy of this Pastor?

  For me, this underscores the venom of the Evangelical alliance and its constant attacks on other faiths.. it puts JW forthrightness into the shade!

  and is certainly against the message of the Gospel..

  Thoughts anyone, please?
