POLL/SURVEY- Why Did You Leave The Organization of JW's?

why did you leave the organization of jehovah's witnesses, and/or why are you contemplating leaving the organization of jehovah's witnesses?.

i've tried to boil it down to the most likely answers based on all the reasons i have heard over the years from xjw's.

a. because the watchtower bible & tract society does not have the truth.. b. because i had a personality conflict with other members of the organization.. c. because i discovered that the wtbts was not being honest or forthcoming about its history.. d. because serving jehovah was too difficult and i just wanted to be worldly and do wicked things.. e. because the governing body of jehovah's witnesses have proved to be false prophets.. f. because i found just cause to disagree with erroneous jw teachings.. g. because the governing body and/or elders were hypocritical.

Double standards amongst those "who take the lead amongst us"

Bullying by the same, leading to the big "cold shoulder"

Major doctrinal change, especially the change in the baptism vows.

If they spout about others altering the scriptures in literature, they should ignore the splinter and take the log out of their own eye first!

Over a three year period I gradually lost all confidence in anything they said without questioning and researching first. I still remember raising my hand to knock at a door and thinking "I can't do this anymore"

That was a haunting and powerful moment for me.

Does anyone out there understand how i feel?

my name is tim, im 23, from the uk, and im currently a jw!.

ok... to cut a long story short... i love serving jehovah but ive begun now to embrace my sexuality as a gay man.. although im still attending the meetings, praying to jehovah and trying my hardest, i can no longer lie to myself about my sexuality.. i have had enough of feeling depressed and confused now - its killing me!!!.

does anyone else know what i feel like?

i'm a good listener as my friends will tell you.. i am a born in jw, inactive for at least 2 years now.

i originally joined this forum to find out what my husband was "up to".

If God exists.... which church does he attend?

so we lost our religion and its time for us to decide which religion to switch, i was sincere so i wanted to do his will as i was taught.... so many here still believe in god and christianity.

so my question for you is.

what makes you think that christianity is the true religion?

For me... It was the fact that I never joined a "religion" which made me sign up as one of Jehovah's Witnesses.

I was always taught to avoid labels. That my faith was an active declaration of my following of Jesus Christ as the Son of the Living Almighty God, Jehovah.

Since he doesn't walk the Earth, some 2000 years on, I conclude that no one group of people can claim to follow him correctly.

However, if I could turn back time and live in the Middle East... I would sign up immediately, and would be a follower.

I was NEVER, a Jehovah's Witness in the canned and shelved state.

The WT has lost its direction, and even changed the dedication vows to suit its Authoritarian, Legalistic and sadlly "Labelled" Status.

I stand on the sidelines in the "Sin" bin as we Rugby lovers call it.

i recently wrote an article on the various troubles jehovah's witnesses are facing in russia.

i try to make the point that, even if you do not support the witnesses (and most don't) you should support freedom of thought, expression and religion.. if you are interested in checking it out, here it is: "snuffing out religious freedom in russia".

Apathy is the WT greatest threat... It needs individuals like JunkDogYard to sustain its growth. Persecution is the Opium of the WT. And JYD's reasoning falls straight into their arms. Well done JYD... obviously you have never experienced life inside the WT circle.

Indeed not..Band on the Run: We collect here for Help For Heroes. Many fight because they see the justice of the battle. However,I personally remain opposed to the current warfare in Iraq/Afghanistan.. that is my opinion.

The immorality of certain War and the greed that rules the economic infracture of the world, proceeds from ungodly people.

My view is only jaundiced by what I see in the press and see/hear in broadcasts. The millions that starve because I benefit from their slavery.

That is ungodly.

Band on the Run: My apologies..we are divided by the same language. It was that little squabble we had back in1776, when America corrupted our pure English language into the drawl that it speaks today (*joking*)

I simply asked JunkdogYard, which (Army) combats Jesus would wear today to raise the point of Christian (note) Neutrality in war, or not.

I seem to recall a Nazarene (viewed as local Terrorists at the time), restoring the ear of a soldier, which had been lopped off by his best mate... Peter.

Perhaps I should rephrase the questin for JYD...

Which army, if any, would Jesus have fought alongside in the first century?

And, JYD, by extension, do you deride Early Christians for allowing their families to be run throught in the Arenas, because of that Neutrality?

Your answer to me was BULLSHIT in its own right!

Are you writing from a Christian perspective or as a man of this ungodly world?
