i was raised as a jw from the age of 7. i was df'd for apostasy in 1971 at the age of 23. it has been 42 years since i have had contact with any jehovah's witnesses, including my family.

last year i moved to tucson.

when i read that a district assembly was coming to town, and that it would be at the convention center only minutes from my house, i decided to check it out.

i hope and think to inform and educate, to save lifes and be a refuge to those lost and confused.. i like las58 his crazy and sometimes makes deep points, so i like the diverse expression of members and freedom of voice.... but i hate the internet and how it takes your identity away...facebook and path for example i think exist only to extract every bit of information of who i am and then i am turned in a target for advertisers...worse they want all the details of my friends...now i think the world would be better with out advertising but i am wearing a shirt advertising a bank and a toyota cars and now i am selling toyota cars with this post.. damn you advertisers, you destroy all that is sacred ...even this site has advertising.....if we could abort advertising would the world be a better place?.

I don't mind the ads one bit. Mostly.........shhhhhhh...........I don't even see them.

But they are so often just ads for things I have been searching. OK!! Yes!! It's shoes!

Sometimes it's connected to the thread itself. That can actually be quite amusing.

Hey, it's just another part of your education in "the world". Learn to ignore harmless stuff that you have no interest in.

Ob, yes, we've agreed we're not going to force this diet on the children. We'll give them this diet with an added carb (mac & cheese!) and a little junk food in the house.

But you are missing the entire point. Carbs should be in the form of whole grains, vegetables and fruits. Where do all your nutrients come from?

I had a friend who was a dedicated Atkins follower. She and her husband had lost something like a hundred pounds each. They felt great, ate like pigs, on everything meaty. Ohhhh they must go easy on the veggies, no grains, and almost no fruit.

I hadn't talked to her for 5 years but recently made contact. BOTH of them had cancer. Exactly what I would have expected from the way they ate.

Weight loss is about calories, health is about whole foods, variety and balance.

Exercise is damn near the cure all.
