What do you get if you cross a JW with a biker?
Someone who comes to you door and tells YOU to fuck off!

those of us who used to be jws, i have a question for you: why would any of us think revelation has anything to say about the 21st century, or that we are in the last days period?.
when we left the jws, we did so because of their false teachings.
we saw through their faulty reasoning about why we are in the last days.
Hi Rex,
Wow!
You supported your reply to Seeker with 44 Bible verses.
Thump, thump, thump!

...if scientists actually learn how to not only slow down but halt the aging process?
(see chappy's post re: immortality).
do you think that if this comes about many people who currently believe in "god" will abandon this belief?
Thanks for your responses, funkyderek and Introspection.
I guess the reason I put forth that question is because "immortality" seems to be the "holy grail" of most belief systems, especially for groups like the JWs who believe that "salvation" means being able to live forever in the physical realm. If something that has always been believed as being "God's" domain were to be attained by humans, I think that, in itself, would cause a portion of "believers" to say "What do we need God for", although other factors that you mentioned such as the conditions immortals would live under if "paradise" wasn't attainable by human means, would play into it.
Thanks,

hi sj,.
your comments on the thread regarding lot raise the meaning of the word "ridiculous" to a whole new level.
you said: " he was willing to give his daughters, which was his right to do under the 'law' they lived by at that time (and trust me, the girls would not have disobeyed...)".
Hi SJ,
You are one serious Bible-thumper, aren't you? Your comments on the thread regarding Lot raise the meaning of the word "ridiculous" to a whole new level.
You said: " He was willing to GIVE his daughters, which was his RIGHT to do under the 'law' they lived by at that time (and trust me, the girls would NOT have disobeyed...)"
In other words, because the "law" and culture allowed him this option, and his daughters would have "obeyed", this lets him off the hook? What kind of crap is THAT?
You said: "For those who like to take certain accounts and find the 'unrighteousness' in the acts of others, might I ask you why? Is that not tantamount to the hypocritical judging of the WTBTS... accusing people of unrighteousness and wickedness, when you have but one part of the 'picture'?" (bold mine)
I don't think I have to list for you all of the examples where the Society has condemned other religious groups leadership for things that their own leadership is guilty of. IMO, that's a whole other topic. Red herring...
As to having "but one part of the 'picture'", as you put it, how much more do you need to know? This man is willing to let his own daughters be raped in order to NOT incur the wrath of the locals for breaking hospitality rules! That alone should speak VOLUMES about his CHARACTER, or lack thereof. The adjective "righteous" isn't exactly the first one that comes to mind when reading about this man...
I think that the dillemna Bible-thumpers like you face is that BECAUSE of your fervent belief that the Bible is totally inspired by "God", it cannot possibly contain any errors or contradictions. So, when a Bible writer says "Lot was a righteous man", even though there are enough facts to show otherwise, you have to come up with all kinds of creative ways of defending your position that these Bible writers had "God's" inspiration.
IMO, the fact that women are treated with so little regard by Bible writers shows that "God" had very little - if anything - to do with the Bible.

Do you think that if this comes about many people who currently believe in "God" will abandon this belief? After all, just ask any believer in "God" about immortality and they will tell you they believe that God and ONLY God can grant immortality.
If scientist were able to say that they have completely solved the mystery of immortality and it is now possible for humans to live indefinitely in perfect health with a body free from the aging process, what effect would this announcement have on religion in general?
Any thoughts?

oh, this is gonna be fun!.

Hi Francoise,
You said: "You know, that passage sounds exactly like the KKK quoting some un-named expert "proving" that the white race is superior to all others. Just change a few words around, and you'd have exactly that."
Actually, if you go back far enough, you will find Society publications that contain inferences that the white race is superior to other races.
Take a look at these gems I gathered from the old H2O...
"The white rulers of Britain have superior mental and moral abilities. Blacks however, are gaining ground." - Golden Age, May 5, 1926, p. 483.
"There is no servant in the world as good as a good Colored servant, and the joy that he gets from rendering faithful service is one of the purest joys there is in the world." - Golden Age, July 24, 1929, p 702.
"The secret of the greater intelligence and aptitude of the Caucasian undoubtedly in great measure is to be attributed to the commingling of blood amongst it's various branches; and this was evidently forced in large measure by circumstances under divine control. It remains to be proven that the similar commingling of the various tribes of Chinese for several centuries would not equally brighten their intellects; and the same with the peoples of India and Africa" -
WatchTower, July 15, 1902:216.

i responded to your comments on another post, but i feel this issue is just too important and deserves its own thread.. -----------------------------------------------------.
: even the most righteous believer of god would tend to quote abraham: is the judge of all the earth not going to do what is right?
(gen 18:25).
Hi Farkel,
: "If Abraham was wrong, that whole episode is just another uninspired story."
BINGO!!!

on this website there seems to be so many lies and so little actual truth.
is this supposed to be a place to get answers or confuse the hell out of truth seekers?
well, for you seekers out there, if you find the truth on this site it'll be a major fluke.
FUCK OFF, DORK!!!
raymond franz unwittingly reveals the truth insofar as the comparability of todays jehovahs witnesses and those who were true worshipers in queen esthers day.. raymond franz said:.
raymond franz, a high-ranking jehovah's witness who was disfellowshipped and then wrote two books about the inner workings of the faith, said he doesn't believe cases of pedophilia are any more prevalent in the denomination than in others.
but the religion's insularity leads to problems, he said.
Hi Yadirf,
Denominations such as Mormons and Seventh Day Adventists are pretty much on par with the JWs in the way they strive to "separate" themselves from the "world". Just like JWs, they claim that this feature identifies them as the only ones with the "truth".
Same shit - different pile.

Hi Defender,
With most of the posters being from large centres, I feel kind of isolated up here in the Peace area of Alberta.
Hi Had Enough,
I have siblings in S.W. Ontario. One of them, who lives in the Goderich area, was able to attend the BRCI conference in Waterloo. She tells me that she ran into a couple of people she knows - said she had a great time...
