The WTBTS "almost" admits the truth.....

during the wt session, the org admits that the actions of eldubs can cause an eventual shortage of "qualified " brothers, and it has.

they speak of a lack of teaching as the cause.

in reality, it's the legalism and control issues within the org itself that have caused a shortage of men who are willing to reach out.

You are so right. It is all about the hours.

I was asked twice to be a ministerial serpent. Both times I had "double digit" hours as the circuit over sneer said.

The watchtower article yesterday was really telling elders that they weren't doing their job grooming men to reach out. After the meeting I had a couple elders be nice to me that usually ignore me. I guess the guilt got to them.

If they want elders to recruit men for position in the congregation they should allow them to count the time they spend in the training/grooming work

have any of you ever felt the need to pray or speak to a higher power?

do any of you beleive that we were created or have evolved with a "spiritual need"?

I hate the expression "work in harmony with your prayers ". It is pretty much saying that prayer alone isn't good enough.

Canada Branch Finances - What's Going On?

an update on the canada branch hasn't been made (i think).. year-over-year, canada's equity decreased by 11 million in 2012, 17 million in 2013.. however, the 2014 report shows a huge increase (20 million) in the cost of "purchased supplies.

" with the shrinkage of the mags, and the push to online, how the heck did this go from 39 million to 58 million?.

even with this number, the equity in 2014 went down by a staggering 56 million.. what the heck is going on?.

I know they are printing all the mags for North America in canada now. That might have something to do with it.

but if not, nevermind, but i have to admit, i have been a lifelong fan of: gordon lightfoot.. this evening, i took his 'greatest hits' and gave it a listen, and as expected, i was still enthralled with his lyrical genius, and playing abilities.. anyone a gordon lightfoot fan?.

just curious.. all your folks living along north america's "great lakes" keep in mind, next month is the 28th anniversary of the sinking of the "edmund fitzgerald".. that song, by gordon lightfoot is haunting from beginning to end (over 6 minutes).. i personally love: go-go girl in love, bitter green, canadian railway trilogy, sundown, race among the ruins, wreck of the edmund fitzgerald, and well i like just about every damn thing he ever did.. your contributions?

I love his music, my husband is a huge fan also. Whenever we see singer guitarists playing that kind of music my husband will ask them to play the Edmund Fitzgerald, but they usually can't because it's too hard.

Its four frickin chords. I learned the song when I was like ten years old.

On a different note. I laughed my ass off a couple of years ago watching the grey cup halftime show when they booed Justin bieber and gave old gord a standing ovation.

That's why these parents are extremely damaging to their children. They get their children to doubt their own reality. This is known as gaslighting. And it's beyond frustrating to a child who has no power.

This is one of the reasons I'm so fucked up in the head

Tell her you are sick and she will tell everyone she heard you have an STD. Tell her you are doing well and she will say you are consumed with material things. It is a lose lose situation.

yep pretty much so. Yet she is a master of charm with other people and if I complain to others about her they will take her side.

You sound like you have the situation well in hand though.

not it totally my friend but I am getting there. We live a very long distance from my parents so it makes her easier to deal with.

I'm not sure if it is narcissism or sociopathy but there is definitely some mental disorder to treat some if your kids like shit and others like princes.

Even when I was full on in this religion and I had a good experience in field serve us she would find fault with me telling me why I didn't do this or that better. When I was a ministerial servant why wasn't I an elder?

Now that we are marginal witnesses and I am "materialistic", whatever that means, she really tries to put the screws on. She left a message a couple of months ago telling me she loves(puke) me and to phone her because she wants to hear my voice. What she really wants is to get details of my life so that she can criticize me for missing meetings and not going in field serve us.

Your family dynamic sounds a lot like mine although mine was not nearly as severe as yours.

You and your sister were the scapegoats and your other sibling was the golden child that could do no wrong.

My oldest brother and I got the short end of the stick literally and my other brother is the favoured one. The oldest was smart enough to leave the Jws before he was baptized.

Even though I am still in there is no point in talking to my mother. I am a failure in her eyes. Any thing that I accomplish she puts me down. I'm never good enough for her. So I ignore her. It really pisses her off because she can't control my life.
