I generally follow the scriptures and call out the elders on their bullshit rules. They don’t really like it but how can you argue against the word of Jehovah.

Brand New Shoes
by APieceOfShitNamedTate ini'm debuting these at the meeting sunday.
all the other brothers will be jealous of me, and all of the sisters will want to date me with a view to marriage.
don't try to talk me out of it.

You should gift them to Governing body member Stephen Lett. All he would need then is a pair of colourful, baggy pants and a red nose to complete his wardrobe.

Our congregation will be deleted
by Rattigan350 inlast night was the co's visit.
prior to his part, an elder had a part on following theocratic direction.
it was about our congregation being deleted (there are 2 sharing this hall) and the people and territory being divided up to the 4 other surrounding ones.. they say it is not about numbers but about making best use of resources.

The way it used to work was the empty Kingdom Hall would belong to the congregation that currently held the territory.
The local brothers would be responsible for maintenance and utilities until it sold.
After they did all the work and took some personal risk they would hand over a tidy profit to the branch.

Kinda reminds me of when I was factory foreman in a failing company I once worked for ( before they went tits up)
The manager would tell the staff not to listen to the rumors of the financial health of the company so the employees wouldn’t quit and he and his wife could extract everything they could before the bank came in and changed the locks on the office doors

Dog food and veterinarian bills cost money. Money we could use to live a lifestyle you don’t deserve.

Kingdom Hall Renovation
by geevee inhi all, quick question related to renovating k halls.. my in-laws live in another city and the two congs there are in a ten week process of completely renovating the hall.
the plaster board has been taken off, all the toilets and air cons even the roofing iron and insulation are being pulled out and dumped to be totally replaced.
it seems like overkill to say the least.

Remember when we lodged in private homes at conventions?
by FatFreek 2005 ini bring this up now because i haven't seen any postings about that practice because i got out in 1977. when did wt quit soliciting private homes for accomodations?
or have they stopped?.
i hated it, but it was the only way we could afford to go.

I remember that. I think that arrangement ended in the early 80’s. It was about the same time we stopped going in field service at the district convention and a few years before you had to bring your own lunch.
The society then figured out that if we all stayed in hotels that they approved of they could get kickbacks from the hotel companies in the form of loyalty points. -

Love Among Yourselves?
by Lost in the fog inyou have to wonder why a congregation which claims to have love among itself would not do something to help this poor off member of the congregation.
oh wait a minute, they preached to him, got him in, so now he's on his own - just like all the rest of them!

I think it was an issue of liability if the disabled brother fell getting in or out of his wheelchair at home or the Kingdom Hall.

JW Broadcast May 2019: Anxiety
by StephaneLaliberte inthe women's testimony was a hard watch.
i feel so sorry for her.
the concept that spirituality can overcome sickness immediately induce guilt in the individual and even the sister said so herself @18:40: "i feel ashamed", "wrong with me", "guilty about that", "i'm letting jehovah down", "disobedient to jesus".

This was in a recent watchtower study as well.
Victim blaming at its finest.
