Covid 19 did the organization a favour. If they are forced to sell off the limited assets they have in Australia it will be a good time to switch to an internet religion.

Television segment on JWs and the Australian Redress Scheme
by Listener intonight there was an 8 minute segment allocated to reporting on jws regarding child abuse and the redress scheme.
it was presented by lisa wilkinson for the project.the australian branch has issued a statement to the show advising that they will not be joining the scheme.. they state:.
statement from the jehovah’s witnessesthe religion of jehovah’s witnesses does not have the institutional settings that the voluntary national redress scheme is designed to cover.therefore, the ministry for families and social services has been advised that jehovah’s witnesses will not join the scheme.jehovah’s witnesses have responded and will continue to respond directly to individual claims for redress in a caring, fair, and principled manner, taking into consideration the unique circumstances of each claim.. https://10play.com.au/theproject/articles/statement-from-the-jehovahs-witnesses/tpa200621ycelq.

Covid19 "Suggestions" (aka rules)
by Huxley1979 inso a co just said in his talk yesterday that anyone that doesn't follow the branch's covid19 "suggestions" is disobedient and the type of person that won't survive armageddon.
didn't the letter say that each head of household would choose for himself how to apply the "suggestions"?.
the funny thing is there are other countries where none of these "suggestions" have been given..

It’s not so much about obedience, it’s about image and liability.
As a business owner I am responsible for the safety of my customers. If someone picks up covid and they trace it back to my office I’m in deep doo doo.
Thats why the Kingdom Halls aren’t opening any time soon.

CO'S "encouraging" letter to circuit
by nowwhat? inthe point of the letter was how many are feeling disappointed these days.. no circuit assembly, convention, how we can't fellowship at the k.h.
disappointed we might have had a love one die, etc etc.
he then goes on to write about how disappointed jehovah must have felt when his first human creation rebelled.

"I don’t know about KHs, but I can see them panic selling Assembly Halls first."
Commercial real estate is gonna be worth SFA because of Covid. Looks like Jehovah doesn’t know how to time the real estate market.

I think that what has needed to be said on here has been said. Unless there is some breaking news that tony Morris was arrested for soliciting a prostitute it’s all about politics.
I like talking politics because as a jw I wasn’t allowed. We had to remain neutral to the world and talking trump or Trudeau was just really frowned upon when we were in the “truth”

Ten bucks says that, deep down, the vast majority of rank-and-file JWs aren't really feeling all that disappointed.
The point of the letter is to remind them to feel guilty about not feeling disappointed.
I hadn’t seen any Jw’s from our hall in person for two months.
I’ve seen two in the last two days.
First one was in my office buying something and I mentioned he was the first witness I’ve seen since the lockdown. We talked about zoom and when we will be allowed to go back to the hall. He told me some are opening saying they are never going back because they prefer the zoom meetings. These seem to be older ones as they are simply afraid of catching covid.
I was at Costco today and saw one of the older sisters wearing a mask. She said she can’t get on zoom consistently and misses a lot of the meetings. She seemed paranoid but in These crazy times paranoid is the new normal I guess.

Having trouble with parents staying home?
by Steel inmy parents are in there late 60s, they have a net worth of 2 to 3 million dollars and a 2500 sq ft home.
my dad works a hobby job at a service station for boredom reasons.
it’s a kiosk type between glass but it does require some contact with the public.

My parents are in their 80’s and are still running their business. I figure what the hell Whatever keeps them happy. They travelled a bit when they were in their 50’s and 60’s but after 9/11 there was a lot of bullshit involved in travelling internationally and they don’t really socialize a lot so they just keep doing their thing.

Contrary to the Jehovah’s Witness teaching that humans are something special we are animals like any other animal. Evolution over millions of years has taught us that we need to stick to our own kind and shun dissidents, the disabled and people generally different than ourselves.
If you watch a group of pigeons on the ground the similar coloured birds are in the group but the odd coloured birds are shunned and are on the edge of the group picking up the scraps. This is for the survival of the group much like jws disfellowship or ostracize those who are different.
I’m not sure if we will ever as a species be able to overcome our racist past. We can try to erase the past but what stops another group of people from rising up and being racist to those they have displaced?
From a survival point of view we need to be inclusive. It can’t be based on a quota that we are forced to hire so much percent based on ethnicity. We need the best and the brightest.
If the guy that comes up with a cure for cancer happens to wear a turban or is severely autistic who the hell cares.
Part of our problem is that technology is progressing so fast and the world is changing so fast that we can’t keep up with our attitudes and actions.

“White Privilege”
by minimus inlately that’s all i’ve been hearing about!
i’m sick and tired of listening to white people begging for forgiveness simply because they are white.
in a nearby town, a six year old girl asked her mom, “ why don’t we have a black lives matter march here?

If you and I are running the 100 meter dash, and I start 10 meters ahead of you, but you have worked out and watched you diet, and ended up passing me and won, this mean I didn't have an advantage to begin with?
I’ve seen the video about the 100 meter dash.
What does that have to do with the colour of my skin? Absolutely nothing.
In Canada we have an Indian privilege. If you are Treaty native or Métis the taxpayers provide your college education. I don’t have that privilege because I was born with the wrong colour of skin.
So the indigenous Canadian starts out 10 meters ahead of me because he didn’t have to take out student loans to pay for his degree. Is that your point redvip2000?

I don’t believe anyone is privileged. The reason can be seen in siblings coming from the same family. Some have economic success. Others don’t fare so well. Why is that? Choices of who you marry, how hard you work, whether you choose to smoke or drink and how well you manage your money all can determine your success.
